The Katoomba Mountain Lodge is an independent low budget accommodation service in the heart of the Blue Mountains. We are a cozy and relaxed place that caters primarily for international backpackers, families and couples.

The lodge is one of the oldest heritage buildings in Katoomba. The building was originally created as a primary school, subsequently transformed into a nursing home and at the end of 1970s refashioned into the guesthouse of today.

We have free WiFi, an updated tourist information board with current events and stuff happening in town, a jobs board, two warm lounge rooms with a wide selection of DVDs and TV channels, great hot showers, a tranquil & relaxing reading room and a sunny terrace with two spacious outdoor decks.

Our kitchen is fully equipped to prepare your meals and we also provide free coffee and tea. There is a vegetable bed in our garden where our guests can pick fresh herbs for their dishes and we also have interesting cook books in our kitchen if you are looking for inspiration or wanting to get creative.

Our reception is open daily until 4 pm. If you are checking-in after 4, please give us a call and we can happily arrange a late check-in for you.

Prices are per person per night.

Just 3 minutes south of the Katoomba Railway Station. Walk down Katoomba Street, turn left into Church Lane, at the Uniting Church, next to Hostel sign.

BY CAR: The entrance to the Blue Mountains at Glenbrook/Lapstone is only around 50 minutes drive from Sydney. From the city, follow the signs to Parramatta. The M4 Motorway starts at Strathfield and takes you through to the Blue Mountains. (A toll applies at the Sydney end of the M4). The trip from the CBD to Katoomba takes around 90 minutes. We are approximately 400 metres from Katoomba Railway Station.

BY TRAIN: From Central you can board an air-conditioned double decker Mountains train. The fast journey to the Mountains will most likely stop at Strathfield, Parramatta, Penrith, Emu Plains, and then all stations up the Blue Mountains. The trip to Katoomba takes 2 hours. Trains generally run every hour and even more frequently during peak commuter times. Taxis are readily available from Katoomba Railway Stations or the walk takes 3 minutes from the station to the lodge.

Located Near

We are located in the centre of Katoomba just a few blocks from the train station and an easy 20 minute walk to Echo Point, where the Three Sisters and magnificent lookouts are located.

Katoomba street, the main street of Katoomba, is just around the corner, making it leisurely convenient to pick-up some groceries (Aldi, Coles, BigW, Woolworths, etc) or enjoy a great coffee in one of the many funky cafes of the village.
