Chill Backpackers in Brisbane, Australia

The reviews I read before booking were overstated - they said the rooms were small but they were ridiculous. We stayed in a 4 female dorm and we could barely get our suitcases in. I took the trouble to book female dorms and then found out that the bathrooms were male/female. No towel rental provided, so you have to buy towels and take wet ones with you. You have to rent dishes because they do not trust you not to steal them. They were short of clean blankets. I do not recommend Chill. Diana, from USA ~ 14th Jun 2009

Not too far from where a lot of homeless so we got hassled a fair bit for money or to be allowed to get in to the hostel to use the facilities so beware! This did give us concerns on the 15 minute walk into the city. On the plus side though - great shopping centre just opposite and amazing parklands (Roma street) also just opposite. Stunning views of part of the city from the rooftop which we immensely enjoyed. Cardboard thin walls made it difficult to sleep in and the room was very small

John, I am very sorry, but you booked a hostel right in the city centre. Yes you might walk into the occassional homeless person, but to say you were having trouble getting into the hostel goes a bit too far. Thankgod you didnt get hasseled by all the flyer people handing out flyers in the city
