Navine's Homestay is for NON-SMOKING travelers, backpackers and value-conscious tourists who prefer a home environment rather than an expensive hotel. This home is for single, unattached, travelers. Price is R 120 per person, per night, one person per room.
Navine's Homestay offers 3 clean, simply-furnished bedrooms, a shared bathroom, coffee/tea maker, balcony, and pleasant space for braaing (barbecue), washing machine and fully functional kitchen. Parking is inside and very secure. Whatever your reason for visiting Cape Town, Navine's Homestay is the perfect venue to enjoy the magnificent beauty of the city and become part of the local community.
It offers lots of space, privacy and is perfect for travelers who want to sleep, relax and re-charge their batteries; strictly one person per room at all times. Plenty of meeting space is available in other areas of the home, for social gatherings.
Owner lives upstairs, three rooms are downstairs. By car, the home is 30 kilometres from the city centre, and 25 minutes from the airport. It is clean, comfortable, safe. It is close to the well-known Kenilworth Racecourse (10 mins), the Royal Cape Golf Club in Ottery (10 mins), Muizenberg beaches (20 min), and Constantia Valley (20 mins) with the country’s oldest wine route and mountain walks. The Constantia mountains are visible from the balcony, which offers relaxing views throughout the day.
For those with a car, public transport is 10 minutes walk away and buses and taxis run to Wynberg, Claremont. At night the area is very very quiet. For those want to go out at night, Swingers club/pub is 15 minutes walk away, and there is a very basic sports bar opposite it. Also 15 minutes from Navine's Homestay (and close to Swingers) you will find Fuzion nightclub, very local in character located in a light industrial area… not fancy but fun! Next to that club is a pool bar, called Massimo's. You can either walk there at night or if you wish, ask the owners to organise a taxi ride home (5 mins).
For those who wish to experience local cultures, this home is at a transport junction to the black townships mainly inhabited by Xhosa-speakers. Afrikaans language communities are about 10 minutes away, on the Cape Flats. Many other local and African communities (e.g. Malawian, Zimbabwean) reside nearby, each with their own unique customs. By taking public transport you will meet these people, who are always open to a conversation. With the guidance of the owner, you will be able to access community projects some 15 minutes away from the home, if you wished to get involved with South African development issues.
Some guests have obtained their international driving licences at the nearby traffic departments (10 minute walk) and have benefited from the many driving schools in the area. Others have come to improve their English-language ability and have attended the nearby English Language home school, a cost-effective and community-based alternative to commercial operations.
Our guests also enjoy the tasty, inexpensive and clean food sold at outlets within walking distance from the home. Cape Malay and Indian are the predominant styles (breyani, stews, curries, braais, fish). You are most welcome to cook at home and enjoy social time with the owner, who also enjoys cooking together.

Navine's Homestay is 25 minutes from the Airport and city centre by car.
From the Airport:
From airport drive towards the N2 highway (also called Settlers Way), take the first off-ramp and go down Duinefontein Road; after approximately 5 kilometers you reach traffic light intersection. You will see a bridge on your left but you should turn right into Lansdowne Road and continue past 4 sets of traffic lights for almost 5 kilometers ; at the last set of traffic lights you will see Lansdowne Shopping Mall on your right. Continue for 200 meters until you reach Wetton Circle. Wetton Circle is an obvious and large landmark.
At Wetton Circle, turn left into Old Strandfontein Road until you reach the only stop sign, with mosque on your right. Turn right into Shaftesbury Road. You will see Oracle High School. Turn right opposite the high school, follow the short bend in the road, and you will see Theal Road on your right (the first and only short road). Turn into Theal, then turn right into Aylesbury Crescent; it is the only house with a balcony facing the mountain.
From the City Centre:
From city center go to the train station, bus station, or taxi rank. Go to Wynberg or Claremont railway stations, take a public taxi or bus to Wetton Circle. From Claremont station, you must ask the driver to go down Lansdowne Road, to get to Wetton Circle. From Wynberg, most public transport goes down Wetton Road, to Wetton Circle.
(Taxi will be easiest for your first time). Public transports costs are lower than metered taxis ; you don’t need to use them ; with public transport you get to meet locals of all backgrounds ; ask them for help ; they will help you and make sure you get to Wetton Circle.
At Wetton Circle look for the BP petrol station, which is in Old Strandfontein Road. Walk along Old Strandfontein Road for about 600 meters until you reach the only stop sign, at the mosque.
We are located on the border of the Southern Suburbs and Cape Flats, a junction between different cultures in the city. Excellent views of the back of Table mountain and 15 minutes drive from False Bay beaches, en route to Cape Point.
By car, 20 minutes maximum to University of Cape Town, Kirstenbosch Gardens and Constantia Nek. Centrally located for those interested in local cultures.
