Obviouzly Armchair Backpackers & Pub is the funky, newly refurbished red building in the heart of bohemian Observatory with its buzzing nightlife catering for backpackers, tourists and intern students with multi bedded rooms and private rooms.

The pub décor is eclectic and a throwback from the past. You can feel the musical heritage (having once been the launchpad of most of South Africa's successful bands) when you sit in the pub and look through the window panes of the amazing window wall. If you love partying, good music and want to experience South African braais, Obviouzly Armchair Backpackers & Pub is the place to hang out.......Obviouzly!

We have comfortable beds and spacious rooms but sleeping is not an option with so much to see and do. You can hang out on the upstairs balcony and party with your fellow travellers and partygoers on the neighbouring balconies, chill in our Lair Café and Secret Garden or join your friends and locals in the pub. For sport lovers you can sit in the pub or lounge in your favourite armchair and watch live sport. If you can't be bothered to rustle up a meal, enjoy a freshly prepared one from our in- house restaurant or braai at your leisure over the weekends.

We are a one minute walk to the station and taxis are conveniently parked nearby. There are a variety of offbeat and trendy restaurants, a pool bar and live music venues on the same street, so you won't need to go far to indulge your senses. If you want a change of scenery, Cape Town, Table Mountain and the beaches are ten minutes away or we can arrange day trips, tours and safari weekends.
