This family-managed hotel is located on Monte Amiata (at 1400 M a.s.l.) which was sacred to the Etruscans.
It lies in a beautiful clearing surrounded by Italy's largest beech forest, with a breathtaking view to the peak of the unknown Tuscan Volcano. Since 1972 Le Macinaie Hotel has been in an old chestnut mill, completely refurbished in 1999. Today it features 17 comfortable and charming rooms including a free Wi-Fi, an internet corner and outdoor parking. You can enjoy our relaxing area which includes sauna, whirlpool and tanning booth or our kinder garden dedicated to the children. The hotel is recommended for activity breaks: hiking, biking, motorbiking, quad, downhill, orienteering or gourmet tours which Enrico and Francesco are able to suggest, customise and book. In the neighbourhood you can also find motorbike, bicycle and quad rental. In the evening or for lunch our restaurant, where chefs Giorgio and Claudia prepare local, handmade and Tuscan dishes, is famous for its mushroom soup and grilled edible boletus cap. By car:
Coming from North, take the highway exit Firenze-Certosa and merge on the motorway Firenze-Siena in direction of Siena. Pass Siena and proceed in direction of Grosseto until Paganico. Follow the indications to Vetta Monte Amiata, Castel del Piano. At Castel del Piano, follow the indications to Vetta Monte Amiata, Prato delle Macinaie and after 9km you'll reach the hotel.
Coming from South, you can take the Autostrada del Sole until Orvieto, follow the indications to Castel San Giorgio and then to Acquapendente. Merge onto Cassia in direction of Siena. Arriving at Ponte a Rigo, turn left in direction of Piancastagnaio. Pass the town and follow the indications on the left to Vetta Monte Amiata, Prato della Macinaie and after 9km you will reach the hotel.
From Rome take the SS 2 Cassia in direction of Siena and follow the indications above.
From SS Aurelia follow the indications to Montalto di Castro, then to Canino, Acquapendente and merge onto Cassia, proceeding as above.
From Arezzo, take the A1 highway until the exit Valdichiana and proceed in direction of Pienza, then Abbadia San Salvatore. Before entering the town, follow the indications to Vetta Monte Amiata. After about 7km, turn right to Prato delle Macinaie.

Located on Monte Amiata at an altitude of 4600 ft, Le Macinaie is in one of Europe's largest forests. A green crown who gives to the mountain its look of gigantic cone; going down, the chestnut trees, and the historic medieval 'borghi'. At a lower level, the hill of Val D'Orcia.
