Paradise Mutumba is a beautiful natural, authentic Villa owned by the famous Jamaican born author, poet, radio presenter and public speaker Muta Baruka. The property is neatly nestled in the hills of treasure beach with the most glorious Island views. Paradise Mutumba features 40 or so stairs leading up to Villa, described as being the Stairway to Heaven.

Paradise Mutumba is located in Jamaica’s last resort-free stretch of sunny, sunny beach, and offers affordable accommodation and self-catering, for the more independent and sociable traveller. Treasure Beach is known as a quiet fishing village that invites you to frolic in the sand and sea all day long, at your own leisure and stay up watching the stars all night. Best of all, it hardly ever rains in Treasure Beach and Paradise Villa Mutamba is literally a two minute walk to the ocean.

The most accurate description for this authentic, rootsie, Island Villa is that it is bright, open and spacious featuring a beautifully landscaped rock hillside of cacti, Licnum Vitae (iron wood) and Cassin trees and the most breathtaking view (almost throughout the entire Villa) of the turquoise coloured Caribbean sea.

The Villa is complimented by Catherine the appointed house keeper who is available on request for a small fee. Catherine is an experienced member of the Villa Mutumba team and will purchase groceries, prepare meals, clean the property and tend to other general household chores.

Catherine is a great person to be around, she is very calm and respectful and lives right at the foot of, the Mutumba Villa Stairway to Heaven. Boat rides by Ossie are available by making reservations a day in advance. Experience the dolphins on route to Pelican Bar, situated on a little sandy band in the middle of the ocean. Alligator Pond and the Black River Safari are other interesting boat ventures.

Paradise Mutumba Villa is an open-concept that features communal space with a shared kitchen and bathroom. There is also a second outdoor shower and sink. All organic waste fruit and vegetable peels, bones from meat or fish is to be thrown into the side-bush for the neighbouring goats and cats.

All non-organic waste plastic, glass, cartons, etc, are to be washed out and gathered in a bag and discarded in the drum at the front of the property. Bear in mind that although Paradise Mutamba is quite cozy and comfortable, we are still more or less situated in the tropics. We work hard to maintain a natural Jamaican experience and conserve water, staggered showers, hand-washing, dish-washing.

You’ll find a lot to do and a lot not to do here in Billy’s Bay. All of the beaches around Treasure Beach are publicly accessible and we’ll let you know the best swimming spots. There are a couple of restaurants and a small shop next to the villa and more restaurants in Frenchman’s Bay. You can also talk to our neighbours if you want to arrange an authentic Jamaican meal at home.
