The Mansion of Kirkhill was built in the early 17th Century as the Dower house for the most powerful family in Scotland: The Dundas of Arniston. It is thus located in arguably the most beautiful spot in Midlothian. Originally protected on three sides by the South Esk and on the fourth by a reservoir it is truly a stunning location restored to serve the local community and visitors alike.
