The Hostel is at the main base of a conservation project, the Scientific Breeding Animal Refuge of the Otter Project. The accommodations are very comfortable, especially designed for people that enjoy nature and care about conservation of endangered species.The rooms have mini bar and ceiling fan. A social room has Cable TV, books, sofas, hammock and equipped kitchen available 24 hours. Internet connection via wireless, accessible to all and free. Private parking. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are not included, but you can buy your own ingredients at nearby markets and prepare them in the communal kitchen of the Hostel. For those who prefer, there are nearby restaurants that offer local cuisin and consists of seafood or natural food self-service (buffet), at very reasonable prices. If you like you can join activities that include hiking through the Atlantic Forest, use of canoes and kayaks, and feeding the river otters being recovered by the Project.
We can't accept credit cards. However PayPal is welcome. As you will be in a conservation area with wild animals in captivity you need to follow some rules such as keeping silence after 22:00hs and keeping the noise at an accepeted level during the day. There is no limite for age, minimum or maximum. You can join daily activities if you like. We receive visitors and ecovolunteers from all around and we are very used to overseas people. Our staff speaks english, portuguese and spanish. |

You need to travel to the city of Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The Otter Hostel is open to you throughout the year. You can come at any time and stay as long as you want. Transfer from airport or bus station is available for R$ 30,00. In this case someone from the Project staff will meet you at the airport or bus station, and bring you to the Otter Hostel. If you come by car we send a little map with directions on how to get to the base of the project.rnrnrnfrom the airport:rnrnyou have two options. One is to get a taxi and come to the Otter Hostel of the “Projeto Lontra” in the Lagoa do Peri. The cost of the taxi ranges from $ 50.00 to $ 60.00. The taxi will come to the South of the Island, Armação Beach. Passing “Morro das Pedras” will be a straight road of about 1 km. At the end of this straight line, at your right there is a sign of the “Projeto Lontra” indicating the entrance. The plate is after a speed reducer. By entering this road, about 300 meters ahead there will be another sign of the Otter Project indicating the path, to your right again, that reaches right to the Hostel of the Otter Project. The second option is to take a bus at the airport, \'Corredor Sul Oeste\' which goes to the Terminal Centre of Florianópolis. Then take another bus \'Rio Tavares Direct\', from the same company (Insular). You will have to change buses at another terminal, for the bus “Rio Tavares Costa de Dentro”. Ask the bus driver to stop in front of “Nutri-Lanche Restaurant”. From there just follow the signs to the Otter Project. It is a quick walk of 10 minutes.rnrnrnFrom Florianópolis Bus Station:rnrnYou have two options. The first is to take a taxi and come to the Otter Hostel at the Projeto Lontra, in Lagoa do Peri, following the same guidance given for the taxi from the airport. The second option is to cross the walkway next to the bus station, going to the bus terminal of Florianópolis. At the Gate C take the bus \'Rio Tavares Direto\'. You will have to change buses at the next terminal, for the bus “Rio Tavares Costa de Dentro”. Ask the bus driver to stop in front of “Nutri-Lanche Restaurant”. Located Near
Santa Catarina Island, where is the Otter Hostel, is well known for its natural beauty, with magnificent beaches and opportunities for swimming, surfing, sailing and diving, or tasting the typical dishes of seafood. The Hostel is on the shores of Lagoa do Peri, located within a conservation area, 25 miles south of downtown Florianópolis. It is between a magnificent fresh water lake and the Armação beach. It is a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. Transport by bus is only 500 meters.
