Hakata Riverside Hostel in Fukuoka City, Japan

While the hotel made its purpose of providing a room for our stay, I didn't feel at all welcome. The hotel staff were very cold to foreigners while changing their attitude toward Japanese guests. There were many dos and don'ts posted around the hotel like I couldn't be trusted. While there was TV and internet in the hotel, there were coin machines accompanying them, which I found extremely stingy. Very dissappointed with this "hostel". The advertised free internet and TV did not exist, had to pay 100 yen for 10 mins of TV or 30 mins of internet. The staff spoke hardly any english and were unhelpful. The common room was a table and a few chairs with a fridge, microwave and toaster but there was no cutlery of plates so it was impossible to cook anything let alone make a cup of tea or coffee. I strongly reccomend you stay at the nearby khaosan hostel. Ella, from England ~ 18th Sep 2009
