Gairloch Sands is one of the oldest youth hostels in the SYHA network and a popular choice with groups, families and individual travellers looking for good value accommodation. It's also a stop-off point for cyclists exploring the West Coast and journeying to or from Skye.
With wonderful panoramic views over Gairloch and the Torridon hills, the hostel is one of the top five Scottish Marine Life Watch destinations. Boat trips to watch whales and dolphins are available from the village, which also boasts fine pubs, coffee shops, restaurants, fresh seafood, a weekly market, an award-winning heritage museum, visitor centre and leisure centre.
The famous Inverewe Gardens are only a few miles away and a short drive will take you into to the mountains, including Beinn Eighe, Britain’s first National Nature Reserve, and the Torridon range. Local activities include pony trekking, kayaking, fishing, golf and traditional distilling.
Dogs are welcome at Gairloch Sands, for a small fee, when guests book a private room. Please notify us in advance to ensure that a dog friendly room is allocated.
