SYHA is a charity aiming to inspire all, especially young people, to broaden their horizons, gain knowledge and independence through new experiences of adventure and discovery. In support of this aim, all bookings will include a temporary membership fee per person per night which is displayed as an inclusive rate. (Full, existing members of SYHA and HI using this booking engine are not entitled to a membership refund).

Glasgow Youth Hostel reception is open 24 hours, with check-in from 15.00 and checkout by 10.00. You’re welcome to arrive at any time and use our facilities whether arriving early or departing late.

From the age of 5 to 15 years, young people must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and may be accommodated in a single-gendered shared room with the parent or guardian and other guests, at the discretion and responsibility of the parent or guardian. The young person/people, the parent/guardian and the other occupants of the room must be of the same gender.

SYHA advise that additional notice be given to the destination youth hostel when travelling with children, to ensure that suitable accommodation is available. Contact details can be found on your booking confirmation.

Parties with young children (under 5 years) will only be accommodated in designated family rooms, where available. There is no capacity for extra beds or cots in a shared dormitory or private accommodation.

When booking for more than 9 people:
• Full prepayment is required within 8 weeks of arrival as otherwise the booking will automatically be cancelled
• The following cancellation charges will apply to the entire booking:
57 days or more - 20% of total cost
56 to 29 days - 55% of total cost
28 to day of arrival - 100% of total cost

No stag or hen parties are permitted at any youth hostel.

SYHA does not accept American Express cards as payment or guarantee.

By train:
Glasgow has two main railway stations. Train travellers coming from the north and east will arrive into Queen Street Station while those arriving from the South and West will arrive at Central Station.

Buchanan Street Underground can be accessed from Queen Street station and trains leave every few minutes. Travel as far as Kelvinbridge Underground then exit right through the car park and swing park and climb the stairs to Gibson Street. Walk up through Kelvingrove Park bearing left until you reach the statue at the top of the hill. Exit the park and turn right onto Park Terrace. The youth hostel is on the left hand side of the street.

From Central Station take bus number 4 or 4A (destination: Knightswood, Cowdenhill Rd). Get off the bus at the the first stop on Woodlands Road. Follow signs for our youth hostel up the hill.

By bus: travellers by bus will arrive into Buchanan Bus Station and should walk to Bath street to catch the 4/4A. Get off the bus at the the first stop on Woodlands Road. Follow signs for our youth hostel up the hill

By car: from the M8 motorway westbound, take Junction 18, marked Charing Cross and Kelvingrove, & follow signs for our youth hostel. If travelling eastbound, take Junction 17, marked Dumbarton, then merge left onto the A81. Turn left at the first set of traffic lights and right at the next set of lights and you'll find yourself on Woodlands Rd. Follow the signposts from here.

On-street parking is charged Monday-Friday between 08.00-18.00 with a 3 hour maximum stay.

Located Near

Glasgow Youth Hostel is located in the historic West End of the city overlooking Kelvingove park. Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and the University of Glasgow are only short walks away, as is a wide variety of restaurants and bars to suit all tastes and budgets.

Glasgow's SECC, Armadillo and Hydro Arena are also all within 30 minutes' walking distance of the youth hostel.
