El Warung Cave Hostel
A unique kind of construction. Our rooms are holes excavated into the mountain following the tradition of the ancient aboriginals of Gran Canaria. The cave is characterized by its isotherm, it keeps a constant temperature through the year, between 18º and 20º. The cave´s outdoor terrace offers the most stunning views of the Crater of Tejeda, the most spectacular geographical feature of the island and the colossal rocky monoliths such as Roque Nublo and Roque Bentayga. You can also enjoy the sun all day long and see one of the most amazing sunsets the island can offer. Retreat and Adventure seekers have it all here. Hiking, climbing, cycling, trail running, paragliding and more are practiced here all year round. This area of Gran Canaria was declared Biosphere Reserve in 2005.

Keep in mind this village has limited public transport services, make sure you plan well ahead on time.
If you are driving from the airport we recommend you to take the road up to San Mateo Village, starting in Las Palmas city, then go onwards to Parador de Tejeda and drive to Artenara.
If you like you can also get to Tejeda by bus and then hike to Artenara.
To get to Artenara Village by public transport you must take bus 216 from San Telmo Station ( Las Palmas city ) to Teror Village and once there take bus 220 to Artenara. The Cave is only 5 minutes walking from the main square of Artenara. Just follow the signs to Museos Casas-Cueva (n 13) and follow the road. At the street number 23 the street will split. Don't go down hill, just keep straight on. We are at the very end of the road. Look for the steps with the wooden handrail.
