DirectionsShow MapHide Map
>From the bus station: Take bus number 33 and get off at Cathedral (your ticket is good for transfer within 60 minutes of the time of validation/purchase).
>From the train station: Walk towards the main road ( Avenida Constitución) and take the bus 4. Make sure you buy the ticket at the automatic machines in every bus stop before you get on the bus or with the driver.
In both cases you have two options:
1) When leaving the bus cross Gran Via and take the street Carcel Baja, that departs from La Caixa Bank, cross Calle Elvira and keep walking towards the street Caldereria Nueva (Arab shops) - Cuesta de San Gregorio. Keep on walking up until you pass a local bar named '4 Gatos' (4 Cats), keep on two more minutes until you reach an impressive Moorish orange house called 'Carmen de la Media Luna'. Important: Turn here left by Muladar de Dona Sancha and take the first right that is Tiña (Makuto is the number 18). If you come with heavy luggage, we recommend you come by taxi or minibus since the streets are cobbled stones. 2) By minibus: From the Cathedral take minibus C31, towards Albaicin, stop at Santa Isabel la Real Monastery. Makuto is 50 m down from the monastery. On Saturday and Sundays minibus changes its route, you should take from Plaza Nueva which is only 2 minutes walk from The Cathedral.
>From the airport: Take the airport bus to Granada and get down at the Cathedral. From there follow the previous directions.
PLEASE NOTE: FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS AND MAP BEFORE YOU COME! ALBAICIN IS A LABYRINTHINE COBBLESTONE NEIGHBORHOOD AND IT IS VERY EASY TO LOSE YOURSELF.
>From Malaga, take the ring road of Granada (Span.: 'circunvalacion'), and take the exit called Mendez Nunez and continue along the Avenida Fuente Nueva until you reach the Avenida de la Constitucion. There, at the light, go straight on into the Avenida de Madrid and take the direction of Albaicin-Carretera de Murcia.
>From Carretera de Murcia, you enter into the Albaicin through the Pages Street (Calle Pages), continue until you arrive at the Salvador Church (Iglesia del Salvador). Once there, go around the church into the Tomasas Street (Carril de las Tomasas), then take Camino Nuevo de San Nicolas, until you reach at least Santa Isabel la Real.* You should park in that street. To get to the house by car is not easy and it is difficult to find a place to park. Calle Tina is just in front of the Monastery Santa Isabel la Real.
Another option could be: park the car in the parking El Triunfo in the Avenida de la Consitucion. In this case, turn to the right at the light mentioned above into the Avenida de la Constitucion and you will see the parking after a few metres. You continue your way walking up or by taxi.
Important if driving:
The district of the Albaicin is protected by the UNESCO and the access by car is restricted. You should know that to get into the Calle Pages, you have to do it from 8-11am or 2-8pm. Otherwise the entrance is restricted to residents only. There is no time limit to exit the old district.
We're in the middle of the UNESCO-declared quarter of the Albaicin, only five minutes from San Nicolas Viewpoint and Plaza Nueva. Cobblestone streets, white Andalusian houses, balconies, jasmine smells, beautiful viewpoints to the Alhambra, labyrinthine streets...this is the Albaicin. We're close to Santa Isabel La Real Monastery, San Miguel Bajo Square, Dar Al Horra Moorish Palace, Plaza Larga (morning food market of the Albaicin), Calle Elvira (tapas bars), Plaza Nueva and the Arab Baths.
