The Volcano Huts are located in the Thorsmörk Nature Reserve, 30 km into mountain road nr. F249. The last 4 km of the way is only accessible by mountain bus or on foot.
Bus goes to and from Thorsmork twice every day, from June 5th to September 1st and once every day from September 1st to September 16th. The bus can be boarded in Reykjavik or at various other locations along the way. Bus trip to or from Reykjavik takes 3,5 hours.
Busses arrive in Thorsmörk at 12:00 and again at 19:30 and leave at 8:15 and again at 16:00.
Bus tickets cost from ISK 1.500,- per person depending on where the bus is boarded. Bus tickets can be purchased onboard the bus.

You can take the bus all the way from Reykjavik or leave your car and hop onboard the bus at various stops along the way.
