Almost surrounded by the hills and complete with a thirteenth-century ruined castle, this recently refurbished waterside hostel is a wonderful place to relax. This is a place where you can observe nature, with spectacular wildlife right on the doorstep. Lochranza is the ideal base for tackling the many trails and ridges of the Arran mountains including Goat Fell, the island's highest peak. For the less ambitious the Cock of Arran walk, the finest low level trek on the island, starts and finishes at the hostel. Arran has many other activities to offer including on and off-road biking, pony-trekking, fishing, golfing and watersports. |

By Bus
Service 324 connects with every ferry coming into and leaving Brodick. Bus stand behind ferry terminal and driver will drop off right outside hostel (and pickup).
By Train
Get a train from Glasgow Central to Ardrossan Harbour. Train connects with every Brodick ferry.
By Car
From Brodick, turn right onto main road and follow directions for Lochranza (14 miles).
On Foot
A bit too far to walk, except for dedicated mountain walkers or road sloggers.
Ferry
Calmac Ferry operates between Ardrossan and Brodick several times a day. If catching the Claonaig to Lochranza ferry, turn left off ferry slipway onto main road (direction Brodick) for 1 mile to Hostel at the head of the loch.
