About Erasmus Hostel
for international backpackers, and exchange students, we have private single rooms, with the opportunity to come and go 24 hours, kitchen facilities complete with everything you need to cook, fridge, washing machine, guitar, drum, free internet access, wireless, small library, hot water from solar energy panel (rarely found in istanbul), vacuum cleaner, maps of istanbul you can borrow, and freebox.
this is not a common hostel.. the atmosfere is much more familiar, informal and homely then usual hostels, this mostly because, as well as travellers, there are people living long term in the home, sharing everyday life and things. it's a home, we usually eat all together, go out in the nights together, and join for some small trips in the weekends.
Best of all, we give you the opportunity to meet fellow students, backpackers and travellers, in this fascinating city. There is a common room on the last floor where we all eat together and share our stories and time.
We are a laid back, relaxed, and easy going place. Don't come expecting a five star hotel, but a friendly more family like atmosphere. We are friendly, we love each other, we are kind to each other, we never shout at each other. We believe that one thing will save the world, people loving other people, even those that hate them. P.S. This is not a religious place, we respect all religions, and lacks of them. We support animal rights. :)

Reaching the hostel was easy.Camber the owner was waiting for me down the street after my telephone call. The hostel is close to galata bridge where you can eat safe street food -fresh fish 1.80€ sea shell 0,40€. I had a quiet sleep, the bed was comfortable . I booked 10 beded room which was 90% full, asked Camber to swich me to an other dorm and he did put me in a 8beded room, that was cooler 20% full. THNKY. KONSTANTINOS, from Greece ~ 13th Nov 2009

This hostel is cheap, with laid back guests & key entry. But it's filthy. The walls are crumbling, beds crammed, theres only 2 combined toilet and shower bathrooms for the entire 25 bed place so access is problematic! When you can get into toilet/shower, thongs/flip flops are a MUST for health reasons! Wall flakes, grime, hair and other nasties fill the drain and bathroom floor for all 3 days I stayed here. People stay here for price & dont mention grime as the owner is 'nice'. Id prefer 2 know emily, from Australia ~ 9th Nov 2009
