Taksim Sopha Hostel
A new, clean, comfortable and cheap hostel in the middle of the chaotic and young atmosphere of TAKSIM and BEYOGLU (New City Center).
If you are young and interested in being close to Entertainment, Art, Shopping and all other goods of a Multi-cultural European City, you probably prefer Taksim. In the recent years guide books started writing more and more the names 'Beyoglu, Taksim, Nevizade' with the name 'night life, entertainment, culture, architecture, trendy'. That means the main attractions of the city changed and people of Istanbul have been hanging out around these neighbourhoods.
To smell the real character of Istanbul - Today, Sofa Hostel offers you to stay close to Taksim Square, Istiklal Street (the famous pedestrian street), Public Transportation (bus, minibus, subway, taxi, tram, funicular) all around the city and to the airport
You can get free information from the staff of the hostel about the new events and 'where to go, how to do' instructions.
We provide travel information for the travellers, booking help for the events like live concerts, football games, whirling dervishes shows, cinema, exhibitions, etc...

If arriving via the Havitas airport bus which goes from both airports or on the metrotram system you will find yourself at taksim square notibly recognised by the large monument in the centre
Havitas bus cost 11 lira from IST and 14 from SAW.
Try to only have the bare minimum turkish lira with you before arrival as when you get to taksim sq. there are many currency exchanges with very compititve rates, much better than any western country
When you get off the bus walk past the front of the bus and take the next road on your left, walk to the end of the road now you are on taksim sq. head to your right or follow the crowds to Istiklal Caddesi (famous pedestrian shopping street) which joins taksim sq or look for the tram lines which circles the monument and follow them down Istiklal
You walk about 5 mins down Istiklal and take the 4th street on the left which is SADRI ALISIK SOKAK recognided most easily by the CAMPER store on the corner as the street name is not posted on the corner. If your confused on the other side of the street is a large department store called Demirören and a small mosque
Walk 200m down Sadri Alisik sokak to the end which goes down a bit of a hill after 100m. At the end of the street turn left and you should see AGA hamam a traditional 500 year old turkish bath house on your right
Take the first right which corners the Hamam (10m) and we are the second building on the left and easily recognisable by the large grape vines growing up the front of the building
To get to taksim via the subwaymetro system follow the signs in the airport to the metro and take the train all the way to Aksaray then get get on the tram heading to Kabitas
Get out at Kabitash and board the Funicular which is a cable car that take you to taksim sqaure. This journey will cost you 9 Lira and the bus which is a far easier option will cost you 10 Lira
Taxis costs 50 Liras from Ataturk and close to 90 Liras from Sabiha Gokcen. ask to be taken to taksim
The hostel is located in the perfect place to allow access to Istanbuls cranking nightlife as well as being tucked away like a secret garden. Everything is at your fingertips here and every guest will attest to that.
We are nestled in the beautiful nneighbourhood of Kuloğlu, with great cafes and restraunts just around the corner. Like antiques? We are at the heart of the antique district.
