Foulksrath Castle is based 12 kilometres north from the medieval city of Kilkenny (halfway to Durrow). Please note this hostel is NOT in Kilkenny town itself.This lovely 15th century Norman Tower House has many medieval features, including a magnificent dining room & a spiral staircase to upper floors.

Not impressed at all by what was supposed to be a 'genuine experience'. I arrived relatively late - around 9pm. Nobody was there. I had to look for them in the 'castle' and had the impression to disturb the person in charge. They just have somebody providing you with your room number as there is no key for the rooms. I was on the 3rd floor in a 10 or 12 bed-room- bathroom facilities were on the ground floor and not the cleanest I've seen. No breakfast in provided.
