Staigue Fort House Bar & Bed & Breakfast has been around for a hundred years and the house retains that old world feel. Our cosy bar with open fire is popular with musicians. Our facilities include an exhibition on local archaeology, a cafe, reading room, and WiFi. There is lots of outdoor seating on the veranda and by the wild flower meadow.The bedrooms are quiet, bright and airy with high ceilings and large sash windows looking over the surrounding countryside . Enjoy a hearty breakfast in the residents' breakfast room. Packed lunches and traditional Irish evening meals can be arranged. On Sundays we have a barbecue - Euro 5 for choice of chicken, burger or steak with freshly made salads, coleslaw and baked potatoes. Satisfying! Staigue Fort House Bar & Bed & Breakfast is on the Kerry Way walking route and the Ring of Kerry, close to mountains, rivers, lakes and sea. Staying with us offers a nice opportunity to meet people and share stories about the day's excitement. Bedrooms are upstairs and are not wheelchair accessible. We can arrange drop-off and pick-up for walkers. There is little or no public transport to Staigue Fort House. However, there is a reasonable friendly local taxi service which is perfect for shorter trips. We do not have accommodation for pets. We can be telephoned any time from, say, 9 a.m. to midnight. If we miss a call, we will ring you back. If you email us, we will reply promptly.

Walking via the Kerry Way.
Staigue Fort House is sign posted on the Kerry Way by Staigue Bridge which is on the road to the Staigue Fort.
Via the Ring of Kerry (N70) from Sneem/Kenmare direction.
Staigue Fort House is signposted to the right immediately past the village of Castlecove.
Via the Ring of Kerry (N70) from Killorglin, Watervillle direction.
Staigue Fort House is signposted to the left immediately before the village of Castlecove.
By car from Killarney:
travel time: approximately 60 minutes
Take N71 – sign posted Kenmare - as far as Moll's Gap (there is an Avoca shop there).
At Moll's Gap, take the right turn onto the R568 to Sneem.
At Sneem turn right onto the N70, direction Cahirciveen/Waterville.
After 15 minutes, you will arrive in Castlecove. Drive through the village.
Staigue Fort House is signposted to the right immediately past the village.
You can see Staigue Fort House from the road.
By car from Dublin:
Travel time approximately 4 and a haf hours.
Take the N7/M7 signposted Cork and Limerick.
Stay on N7/M7 all the way to Limerick but do not exit into Limerick city.
Take M20, signposted Cork.
Take N21 for Adare.
Drive through:
Adare, then Newcastle West, then Abbeyfeale.
After the Castleisland Bypass, take the N23 signposted Killarney.
Follow the signs for Kerry Airport.
Drive past Kerry Airport.
At Farranfore village, take the left turn at a T-Junction then immediately take the right turn for Castlemaine, the R561/Killorglin Road
Join the N70 at Castlemaine Junction
Stay on N70. Drive through Killorglin, Glenbeigh
, Caherciveen, Waterville, Caherdaniel.
10 minutes on the N70 past Caherdaniel, Staigue Fort House is on the left just before Castlecove Village.
Located Near
There is a wealth of ancient archaeological sites in the vicinity. In one afternoon's walk you can see the Staigue Fort, prehistoric rock carvings, bronze age copper mines and perhaps some of our local sea eagles. The sea is on your doorstep. You can take a lesson in sailing, snorkle or dive through the reefs in the crystal clear waters, whale and dolphin watch, take a trip to the Skellings. Fish!
