Le Bamboo Hotel in Mahebourg, Mauritius

Having read the reviews of Le Bamboo prior to our visit i was expecting the worst but was happy to see that these reviews really didnt do this hotel justice. The friendly nature of the staff was over whelming allowing us to settle in straight away. The room was clean, a good size and the balcony has great views. The walls were thin but caused no problems throughout our stay. The staff were fantastic they made us a great breakfast, suggested the perfect day itinery for us: a trip to Christopher, from England ~ 19th Jun 2009

only really stayed on a stopover of 3 days in total. One of the only places under £300 a night so not much choice. People were friendly and rooms were clean but hostel was in a bad part of Mauritius for tourism. We were also overcharged quite a lot and got a terrible exchange rate paying in MUR rather than EUR. Not a bad hostel but I wouldn't go back.

When you sell your currencies at money changers office in Mauritius they take very high commission and therefore they give you very low price for your currency. The rate that you get is much lower than normal. We usually charge much lower than the current exchange rate but this also seems to be much higher than what you get when you change your money.
