Returning guests have said that the whole world has changed except for Murwillumbah, the hostel and the manager. The hostel has retained it's 1980s character and quirky decorations add to the atmosphere. It is small and intimate similar to NZ hostels.

In summer we have a pet water dragon you can feed by hand and wild ducks and other waterbirds play on the hostel site and in the river. You can also use a hostel inner tube to float and cavort in the water. We are located inside the largest crater in the southern hemisphere. Being encircled by mountains there is stunning beauty in any direction you look, it is a photographers dream. The original town of Murwillumbah, was rebuilt during the 30s depression. The Art-deco buildings have been maintained so the town has old world charm and friendly staff. A variety of restaurants include Indian, Asian, Mexican, Lebanese and local cuisine.

The hostel offers free transport to Mount Warning when you stay at the hostel for 3 nights. You can also travel there independently by catching the inexpensive Murwillumbah to Nimbin school bus, leaving Murwillumbah at 0715am Monday - Friday. The bus picks up from Mount Warning Road at 1615. You can also drive in your own car, rent a car, rent a bicycle or hire a taxi.
