Wombats City Hostel Munich
Welcome to our comfortable Hostel in Munich!
We're just a stone's throw from the main train station which also serves as the major public transportation hub.
It’s not much further to the old town (5-minute stroll) and we're within walking distance to the Oktoberfest grounds.
Of all the hostels/hotels popping up in Munich this does the best job in combining style with location. ‘Past the glassed-in courtyard you'll find a friendly expat staff, pleasant if modular furnishings and private showers and toilets in every room.' (Lonely Planet)
We have amply dimensioned dormitories and most doubles come with their own terrace. We're especially proud of our air-conditioned, glass-roofed courtyard with real trees!
If you travel by car, we've got private parking too.
Please send us an e-mail for more information regarding car parking.
The five reasons why Wombats City Hostel became a destination in their own right are:
Unfortunately not something to take for granted but we do take this seriously: we've won Hostelworld's 'Cleanest Hostel Worldwide' award, twice.
We're centrally located and close to the trains and public transport.
There's maximum security with smartcard access for the front door, the floors, the rooms and your locker. All rooms come with comfy wooden beds, a private shower, toilet facilities and lockers for your belongings.
You'll get a set of bed linen, a small welcome drink, Wi-Fi as well as our self-made city map with all essential information about the activities in town – all of which is for free.
In addition, we offer an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet (for an additional fee), internet terminals, laundromats, 24/7 reception service and our lively womBAR serving cheap drinks and food.
We're the hostel by travellers for travellers!
We've travelled the world ourselves - so we know firsthand about your needs and expectations from us. We care for you and your feedback.
Great social atmosphere!
We ensure that you will feel safe and welcome here. When you've been on the road all day, seeing sights and visiting museums for example, it's great to come back to a pleasant scene at the hostel where you can have some beers, talk and make friends. This will make your stay memorable! Many travellers stayed significantly longer than primarily intended.
You may well find a cheaper place to crash in town, but none where you get more value for your money.
We were voted the Best Hostel Chain Worldwide at the Hoscars on several occasions. We promise to keep it up!
We look forward to welcoming you!
Please note that you need to be at least 18 years old to stay in our hostel.

Cancellation PolicyThis property has a 1 day cancellation policy. Failure to cancel within this time will result in a cancellation charge equal to the first night of your stay.
Must-Read Hostel InfoThis property has specific Terms & Conditions.
Bookings can be changed and cancelled up to 24 HOURS prior to arrival. In case of a No-Show or delayed cancellation request, the amount of the FIRST night will be charged.
The rates given on this site don't include breakfast. Our all-you-can-eat continental buffet brekkie costs €4.50. You don't need to 'reserve' for breakfast, just come 'round to the reception in the morning if your belly claims its independence.
Please note that there's no check-in before 2pm (we need to clean the rooms first!). You may leave your stuff with the reception though and come back later.
There's sometimes a weird remark on your booking confirmation that your booking is split up into different rooms. Please ignore this, it's a software bug. There are human beings in charge at the hostel and they won't separate you from your friends or make you move to another room every day.
If you are travelling with children, please note, you will have to book a private room-that means either all 6 or 8 dorm beds or a double/twin room to be used only by yourselves. It is not possible to share your bed with your kid or the room with your kid and other travelers.
After your stay, you'll receive an email which gives you the chance to let us know what you liked and what you didn't like. We appreciate your feedback! Quite a few things you will find in our hostel were not our idea - your fellow travellers suggested them!
For a small fee you can park your car in our garage.
We are SO sorry but there's no kitchen. It’s a shame, we know. Unlike our other hostels, Wombats Munich does not have a communal kitchen because there are some ridiculous laws which make it almost impossible...besides that, our landlord wouldn't let us to avoid fire hazard. Check.
Again we truly apologize but it’s like trying to scream down the Great Wall of China if you intend to complain about that - there just won't be a kitchen...ever. -sad-
Please note: minimum age restricition is 18
Cheers for reading this and have a nice trip to Munich.
We look forward to welcoming you!

wombat's CITY HOSTEL is located in a small side street next to the Hauptbahnhof (main train station).
First of all: get off the train. Gnhn! Then, with the platforms in the back, quickly take the right exit out of the ugliest building in town onto Bayerstrasse. Cross the road, take a left and then turn into the first street on the right: Senefelder Strasse. Aim for the second house on the left side and look out for our banners saying...wombat's. (REALLY?!)
From the airport:
Take S-Bahn lines S1 or S8 to the main train station 'Hauptbahnhof' (the journey takes app. 45 minutes or 82.365 eye blinks), where you will find yourself in a maze of underground passages. Look for the exit to 'Bayerstrasse Ost'. After the escalator spits you onto the pavement, make a U-turn, cross Bayerstrasse, turn left and then first right into Senefelder Strasse. wombat's is the second house on the left. Still. -grin-
From the ZOB (main bus terminal):
Well. There are 2 ways: the easy and the interesting one.
On the easy path simply walk up the stairs to the bridge spanning the train tracks (where today’s kids hang out, sitting on the steel beam and watching the industrial sundown), head for the middle part and look for the way down to the city train (“S-Bahn”, green sign). You can take any line one stop to the main station (“Hauptbahnhof”). From there see above.
If you can’t wait to explore (good for youuuu!) then follow the road to the exit onto “Arnulfstraße”, turn right and continue to the first crossroads. To the right you’ll see a dark and dreary tunnel… yes. Exactly. Take heart and head into the tunnel and IF! you manage to emerge in one piece on the other side, turn left into Bayerstraße and continue straight until “Senefelder Straße” on the right. If you’re still alive we will welcome you heartily with two well earned free drinks at No. 1. Takes about 15-20min. Follow meeeee…….gollum!
We almost bump into the main train station (Hauptbahnhof) and are located close to the coach station (ZOB), the old town, Stachus, Kaufinger Strasse (Munich's biggest pedestrianised shopping road) and the Augustiner brewery (obviously the most important).
