Getting from San Jose to Cartago / Paraiso...
From San Jose you have 2 options. You can:
1) Take a bus from San Jose to Paraiso, and then from Paraiso you can take a taxi directly to us. The bus from San Jose to Paraiso runs every hour from downtown San Jose (across from the Plaza de la Democracia) and goes through San Pedro to Cartago and then to Paraiso. This bus does NOT run on Sundays. (about ₡3500)
2) Take a bus to Cartago, and then take a bus to Cachi. The bus to Cachi passes nearby our street.
**There are also buses that run from Cartago to Paraiso frequently. You could also take a bus from Cartago to Paraiso and then take a taxi from Paraiso following the 'Getting from Paraiso to Brehwa...' directions below. (about ₡1000)
Get off the bus at the second major stop in town, next to the Iglesia de los Padres Capuchinos, walk to the end of the block and turn LEFT for the bus stop to Cachi. Tell the bus driver, 'El Salto de la Novia Cascada.'
Getting from Paraiso to Brewha...
Whether you are on the bus from Cartago riding through Paraiso on to Brewha, or if you are directing a taxi driver from Paraiso to Brewha, the directions and things to look out for are the same.
If you are in a taxi, start by telling the driver 'El Salto de la Novia Cascada, abajo de Mirador Ujarras' (Ujarras is pronounced OO-HA-RAS). Whether you are on a bus or in a taxi, about 10 minutes after leaving Paraiso on your right hand side you will see the Mirador Ujarras, a lookout point/ national park with a restaurant on one side and a hill with picnic benches on the other. About 100 metres after you will see 2 houses on the right side again, one yellow and one pink (with Egyptian decorations and pharoh figures on the gate). About 45 seconds later you will see a lesser maintained road on the right hand side. If you are the bus you will pull the string and get off here and continue on foot. Turn right onto this road (or tell your taxi driver, 'Ir a la derecha' and continue down about 200 metres to the bottom. On your right side again you will see a dirt mound/partial roadblock with a 'Brewha' sign in it, turn right again. The house is located on this road about 350 metres further. We are the first and only white gate on your left. Continue down the driveway on foot to find the house.
You can always have your taxi driver call us at 2574-4407.
From San Jose head East towards Cartago on the Inter American Highway, drive through Cartago and go towards Orosi/Paraiso/Cachi. After you pass through Cartago you will pass a large Walmart and then you will arrive in Paraiso 5km later.
Continue straight through Paraiso on the main Avenida 0, keeping the park and church on your right side as you leave town. Continue down the same road, as it will eventually wind left and right. After about 5km (or 6 minutes) you will pass the Mirador de Ujarras restaurant/bar and look out spot with a white and blue fence, keep going another minute and you will find a road that looks less maintained on your right side. You will want to turn right onto that road and go down another 20 seconds until it turns sharply to the left. There will be a partial dirt mound/road block on your right. Turn right through the roadblock and continue 200 meters, we are on the left with the big white gate.
We are located on the old road from Paraiso to Cachi which is now closed with big road blocks along the way, so if you happen to find yourself coming from Paraiso to us on this road, just return to the center of Paraiso and follow the new signs to Cachi.
You'll find us in the heart of Costa Rica's coffee producing region, overlooking the Orosi Valley, one of the area's best kept secrets. Our private road ensures that your view of the valley, the 400 year old Ujarras Ruins, and 100mtr El Salto Waterfall are undisturbed. The grounds are surrounded by lush, beautiful forest, flowers, and fruit. You won't find a quieter, more tranquil place to enjoy the best of what Costa Rica has to offer.
The Valley is surrounded by jungle, farms, coffee plantations, and quaint authentic Costa Rican towns unspoiled by McDonalds and Taco Bell.
Come watch for exotic birds from any of our 3 outdoor terraces overlooking the valley while hearing nothing but the rushing sound of our 300 ft waterfall.
