Wild Thyme Organic Farm and Eco-holiday
If you like delicious organic food and want to experience a traditional Bulgarian village, you'll love Wild Thyme. Described in the UK Guardian as Bulgaria's 'most ecologically committed and spiritually inspired' retreat - 'a labour of love and ingenuity'.
On their small organic mixed farm which includes pigs, goats and chicks, the owners have created a homely eco guesthouse finished in natural materials of mud plaster and limewash. Here, life is lived by the seasons and guests can join any number of workshops from making cheese to preparing and sampling your own cumberland sausages.
There is lots to do in the area including visiting the World Heritage site of Sveshtari Tombs, an ancient tomb still in pristine condition or the wonderful painted monastries at Ivanovo, another World Heritage site.
There are 3 doubles and 1 twin available in the guesthouse which is packed with eco features including solar power, solar water and composting toilet. Guests have their own private garden with bbq area and relaxing undercover barn, living room, kitchen and dining area. A hearty breakfast made from farm produce is included.
For that extra bit of relaxation, try a reiki or massage therapy.
Wild Thyme also runs Archaeology tours & excursions; reiki training; Bulgarian music holidays and Art holidays.
We can arrange a film screening at our garden cinema. Internet access is also available.

DirectionsShow MapHide Map
From Ruse, follow the E70 towards Razgrad. Before Razgrad, follow the sign pointing right to Popovo. From Veliko Turnovo, follow the E772 towards Varna. Past the sign for Antonovo, there is a petrol station. Just past this, there is a sign to the left for Popovo. Popovo is located on the E83, one of the main routes between Sofia and Varna. From Popovo, follow the road to Opaka for 3km. There is a sign to Palamartsa pointing to the left. A 5km road leads to the village. When booked we will send directions to the house.
A stay in Palamartsa is a step back in time, where horses and carts pass outside your window and you are woken by the shepherd taking the village flock to pasture. Surrounded by rolling hills and an ancient landscape you can relax among folk still living traditional farming lives. Cycle around the village, take a walk to the Thracian hill fort 30 minutes away, fish at the nearby lake or take a swim at Razgrad Lake or Popovo outdoor pool. There are plenty of archaeological attractions around.
