Osa Mariposa in Puerto Escondido, Mexico

Hello Friends. We are a small hostel located in the "Brisas de Zicatela" neighborhood of Puerto Escondido, southwestern coast of Oaxaca, Mexico. Puerto Escondido and Playa Zicatela are home to the "Mexican Pipeline", one of the top 10 surf breaks in the world, and a wealth of natural and cultural beauty.

The hotelito sits less than 100 meters from the Zicatela beach about halfway between the center of town and "The Point". We offer simple and comfortable cabins, both dormitory and private style, tranquil garden/common area, delicious and affordable vegetarian food, and our bar specializes in local Mezcal varieties (an alcohol similar to Tequila , also derived from the agave plant).

Osa Mariposa can be reached from central Puerto Escondido in about 5 minutes by taxi or bus (camioneta) or a nice 20 minute walk down the beach. From the hostel you'll have access to the restaurants, clubs, and shops of old Puerto Escondido ("El Adoquin") as well as those of the Zicatela Beach and the quiet, shady neighborhood down by the Point. The town of Puerto Escondido is the perfect home base for exploring the mountains, rivers, hot springs, virgin white and black sand beaches, lagoons, nature reserves, and indigenous villages that surround it.
