We're proud to announce the opening of Hostel Riva, an extension of the top-rated hostel in Croatia, and the most successful in Pula!

Located in the heart of Pula's centre and at the famous Pula waterfront (Riva), we are a few steps away from the historic Forum and Kandlerova Street, which boasts some of the most impressive Roman architecture in Croatia, as well as a variety of cafes, bars, and shops. Pula's breathtaking Amphitheatre ('Arena') is a mere five-minute walk from Riva Hostel, and all of Pula's main attractions are within proximate walking distance.

Located inside a quiet Austro-Hungarian courtyard building, our newly renovated space consists of four large and spacious sleeping rooms, a common area with TV, free internet computer station and Wi-Fi throughout the property.

Each room in our hostel has very tall ceilings, which makes sleeping with more people in the room quite comfortable! Each room has its own AC unit. Two of the rooms have their own newly renovated bathrooms with spacious shower stalls. Located inside a quiet courtyard, the commotion and traffic outside is not heard at all, even though our location is in the heart of the city centre.

There is a large kitchen available for use. You are welcome to help yourself to breakfast items in the morning (included in the price), as well as coffee and tea. We also have all kitchen appliances and utensils necessary for cooking and meals.

We are equipped with brand-new facilities, including air conditioning, security lockers, free laundry service, DVDs and many other state-of-the-art features that we think are imperative for a modern and convenient hostel experience.

We are also very close to the main bus and train stations, and the arriving terminal for all boats and ferries is less than a minute's walk to where we're located - quite useful if you'll be taking a ferry out of Pula to the southern Croatian coast early in the morning!

Building upon an already established and highly successful hostel business, our main mission is to make your holiday in Pula as comfortable, relaxing and fun as possible. Our staff is energetic and highly dedicated to the needs of each and every guest. It is our firm belief that going this extra mile is what makes a hostel experience above average, and takes at least some of the stress out of travelling and spending time in a foreign country! We want you to feel at home in our hostel.

Each member of our three-person staff has had extensive experience with travel in his/her life. We are all more than happy to share our experiences, recommend travel ideas, provide useful information, and help you clarify and plan the remainder of your travels. English, Spanish, and Croatian/Bosnian/Serbian are spoken here.
Prices are per person per night.

Must-Read Hostel Info

This property has specific Terms & Conditions.

There is a daily tourist tax of 1Euro/person/day, not included in our rates. This shall be added to your balance upon arrival.

24hr check in is available ONLY during June, July, August and the first two weeks of September.
Check in during March, April, May, September and October is open from 9am to 4:30pm (9:00h - 16:30h).
We are CLOSED November December, January, February.

YOU MUST EMAIL US AT rivahostel@gmail.com WITH AN EXACT TIME OF ARRIVAL (+/- 1h) during the low season.
If you do not email us, you may have to call us and wait around to be let in, which could be a huge inconvenience for you!

If you are visiting during March, April, May, September, October, check in is open 9am - 4:30pm.
Please email us with your time of arrival as soon as you know your itinerary, especially during low season when reception is open limited hours.

This is for your own benefit, so as to avoid having to wait for an employee to let you in.

This is best done at least 24hrs before your arrival to Pula, where you can also communicate any changes to your time of arrival given in the booking itself.

Earliest check in is after 2pm during high season (cleaning in progress before that time), however you are welcome to leave your bags and get the keys before 2pm, provided that you communicate your early arrival to us via email/sms!

Making noise with very late/early check-in is not acceptable to our guests, so we need to make sure everyone is checked in before 10pm at the latest.
Thank You for your understanding.

Check-in: after 2pm. Check-out: 11am.

The hostel is thoroughly cleaned every day from 11am to 2pm.
During this cleaning time, we kindly ask that the hostel be vacant, especially during the high season, so that facilities can be cleaned to the highest of sanitary standards that we aim for!
It is nearly impossible to clean the bathrooms and other hostel common areas, while they're being used by guests, so during busy times, please allow us space to do our work and try to vacate the hostel between 11am and 2pm.

If you would like to leave your bags and other personal items on hold with us after you check out, please understand that this is at our own discretion. If we do store your bags, they will be placed in the locked downstairs storage room.
We can not leave your bags within the hostel and run a risk of theft.

If youre running late or arriving earlier than the arrival time that you had given us either in your confirmation email or online booking, please inform us as soon as possible via email, text message, or phone call. If you do not inform us of your late arrival and are a no-show 4+ hours after your scheduled arrival time, we will have no choice but to cancel your reservation.

No drugs are permitted inside or in the outside seating area of the hostel. Guests may smoke tobacco cigarettes in the outside area.

We do not allow group drinking parties and hard liquor consumption on premises.

Hostel bar is priced very cheap and stocked with quality beer, wine and shots in order to facilitate your basic bar needs.
We also ask that personal alcohol consumption be kept to a minimum in the hostel, out of respect to our neighbors and other guests.

PLEASE NOTE THAT RIVA HOSTEL IS NOT A PARTY HOSTEL. We certainly allow fun gatherings in our common areas, but raging party people (loud music playing, group binge drinking etc.) need to party hard outside of the hostel area, and for that we suggest the Forum square only 80m from the front door, where you can meet other people!

We strictly enforce quiet hours policy, which runs from 23:00 - 9:00 (11pm - 9am).

Outlook/Dimensions Festival guests:
Please understand: We stand to lose our license as a result of any illicit activity around here!

There is no curfew--guests have their own keys and the freedom to come and go as they please.
We only request that you enter and leave the hostel as quietly as possible, particularly during the night, so as not to disturb other residents in our building.

Guests are not permitted to bring outside visitors into the hostel area at any time--for obvious safety reasons, anyone who is not accounted for by our staff is not allowed to be in the hostel area.
Any guest who breaks this rule will run the risk of losing his/her reservation at the hostel and may be asked to leave.

Lastly, Pula is a very busy city during summer, however, winter is quiet, cozy and relaxing.
Please do not expect a full hostel of guests during pre/post season, and please do not take that against us in your reviews, as how many guests visit this sleepy town during winter is totally out of our hands, though we've always said The More The Merrier!

We're located at the left end of Pula's waterfront/harbor, street name is Riva and our house number is #2.
The hostel is across the street from the main Uljanik shipyard entrance.

From the airport:
If you are arriving to Pula via airplane, the most convenient way to reach us from the airport is by taxi.
We highly recommend this.
Cost should not be more than 100-120kn, please do not pay more, as you would be getting overcharged!

From the bus station:
You may walk, it is very simple and not far at all. Exit the bus station on the left. Follow the road to the left, around the roundabout towards the waterfront. Stay on Riva st., pass the park and palm trees on your right, keep walking towards cranes/shipyard in the background. We're on the left side of the street another 100m, address Riva 2, right next to Dolce Vita Restaurant.

From the ferry terminal:
We're located at the opposite side of the harbor and from where the ferry drops you off. You need to get out of the ferry terminal; walk right all the way along the waterfront. Keep walking along the harbor another 300m, then cross the street so that you're walking on the left. We're on the left side of the street another, address Riva 2, right next to Dolce Vita Restaurant.

From the train station:
You may also walk, it is very simple and not far. Walk out of the station and take a right down the street about 300m. You'll come to a major intersection where Pula Amphitheatre will be visible straight ahead. Make a right; after 50m you'll arrive at the waterfront harbour. Keep walking along the harbor another 300m, then cross the street so that you are walking on the left. We are on the left side of the street, address Riva 2, right next to Dolce Vita Restaurant

By car:
It is not allowed to park outside of the hostel, but you can easily pull up, unload your bags, then park at the designated parking down the street. You can also park at the parking lot below Arena Amphitheater then walk along the Riva (waterfront) to our address at Riva 2, right next to Dolce Vita Restaurant.

There is a buzzer at the door with Hostel Riva displayed; please ring the buzzer and walk straight through the hallway and another set of doors into our backyard - entrance is on the left.
