Staying at the Happy Rio Hostel in Rio de Janeiro was absolutely amazing! It is conveniently located in central Copacabana where all the action takes place, and not far from the beach. The owner (whom I consider a friend now) was always courteous, knowledeable, friendly and responsive to my needs. I highly recommend a stay at the Happy Rio Hostel, as I definitely plan to return when I visit Rio again. There is also 24-hour staff who is great as well. Free internet, tv & breakfast. Thanks, Al!

Es un hostel muy nuevito, las instalaciones son impecables, no parece un hostel! Buen diseño, un plasma enorme, con sillones muy comodos para ver dvs o tv. Buen desayuno.
El baño es minimo (el que me toco a mi) y la ubicación, es regular, si bien no me paso nada, mucha gente me advirtió que era una zona peligrosa de Copacabana.

I booked a all female dorm but when I got ther it was a mixed dorm and I had to sleep with 3 middle aged men who snored!! I asked for a discount but they said No. Location 2 mins from beach but located in a small side road and none of the taxis knew where it was!! Staff didnt speak good English. Basins not clean and no soap. Breakfast poor just a cheese sandwich and a juice. I wouldnt recommend stayig here.

as of january 2009 this hostel was still quite new- so its not as well known as others in rio- but its on a good street in copacabana, a few blocks from the beach, 1 block from the subway, lots of places to eat around. the people that run it are quite nice, although they will probably meet you halfway in the english-speaking. the owner is fluent though, and he comes by now and then, to check up that everythings cool. you can come in anytime you want, theres a buzzer at the front door, and 24/7

this is a very, very nice hostel!! don`t let the building form outside fool you, inside the rooms and main area are nothing like a hostel.
this is not a party place, but a very nice place to stay. the pictures on the website describes it=)
