You can take a bus or a plane to Armenia or Pereira. If you fly, we recommend a taxi. You will need at least two buses to get from the airport in Armenia to Salento.

From Armenia bus station there are buses every 30 min to Salento. When you get to the plaza in Salento look for the local taxis which are jeeps in Salento. The cost each way to La Serrana from town is 6.000 COP. They usually line up in front of the police station. If you arrive after 8:30 in Armenia, you will need to take a taxi to Salento or a bus to Circasia then a cab to Armenia. Either way have them take you straight to the farm. It can be hard to find transportation in town after 9 pm.

From Pereira bus station there are only 3 buses per day. Please make sure that you coordinate your schedules. Follow instructions above from town.

La Serrana is 1.5 km outside of Salento, 1.2 kms past the cemetery on via Palestina. After passing the cemetery keep walking until you come to a split in the road. Take a left and you are there. It take some 15 minutes and other a bit longer. There is a sign 1 km from the property. If you have not seen the sign, you may be going the wrong way.

The three things that most people do in Salento is go to the Valle de Cocora, visit a coffee farm and go horseback riding.

To get to Valle de Cocora you can take a 30 minute jeep ride from the town square. The cost is 3.000 pp and leaves regularly. We have a schedule listed in the kitchen.

Our favorite coffee farm in the area is Don Elias. He is the original. A real COLOMBIAN coffee farmer. His farm is certified organic and filled with beautiful flowers, birds and lots of coffee. He is about 4 kms past La Serrana and can be reached on a 1 hr hike from La Serrana.

We can arrange a guide with horses to pick you up at the property or you can rent the horses in the valley. From La Serrana the guides usually go on the Camino de lo Indios to beautiful rivers and waterfalls. The cost is 30.000-35.000 pp and takes about 3 hours. You can also arrange a shorter or easier ride.
