Even though we aimed at first to be the most original hostel in the Historic Centre of Salvador, our HostelWorld guests voted us best hostel in all of Brazil ‒ and that was only in our first year. Then just last year we made our way into Lonely Planet's super finicky "Our Pick" selection (so finicky that we are one of only two hostels featured), followed by some rather flattering words from the makers of the travellers' holy book. And that is because we admittedly enjoy spoiling our guests: Free (and obscenely big) breakfast until midday, daily Happy Hour with free caipirinhas, free daily Brazilian film session, free Xbox 360 sessions, free air conditioning in all rooms, free linen and towels, our cool little swimming pool, exclusive discounts at our fusion restaurant Zulu, and more. The Galeria 13 team is a typical Brazilian melting pot: In reception alone you might be greeted by our staff from Brazil, Argentina, Spain, England, U.S. ‒ all of whom sharing their common love for Salvador. We are located just a few steps from the Largo do Pelourinho. All around us is the old city of colourful colonial buildings, cobblestone streets and significant remnants of Afro-Brazilian history. Pelourinho has a place on the National Register of Historical Places and was named a "World Heritage Site" by the United Nations' Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ‒ UNESCO. |

From the bus station:
Cross the footbridge from the bus station to Iguatemi Mall and take the �Pra�a da S� minibus at the bus stop just outside the mall.
Don't worry about missing your stop, as you only have to get off at the very last stop, where the bus parks for a few minutes. Walk towards S�o Francisco church; on the same street at the bottom of the hill is located the hostel. You can follow the map to the hostel, or send us an e-mail requesting a Google Maps link with the walk route.
From the airport:
Take the �Pra�a da S� bus just outside arrivals, by a bus sign that reads ��nibus Seletivo.� Try to avoid the shuttle's luggage compartments, as this is not an express liner and the bus will do several stops along the way.

After 8PM it is advisable to take an airport pickup offered by the hostel. Just e-mail us the flight number, date and time of arrival. Please check with us in advance for availability and price.
Taxi or own transport
We are located on one of the few streets in Pelourinho cars can actually drive along. You have the option of arriving by taxi if you are getting into town late. As the airport is located in the neighbouring municipality of Lauro de Freitas, the cab ride naturally takes quite some time to get to your destination, and be aware that foreigners and Brazilian tourists alike are very likely to be driven an even longer way so that the meter indicates a higher fare than what you would originally pay. Always try to bargain with the cabbies; if you are lucky, you might find one willing to bring you to the hostel for as low as R$ 60, though that's rather unlikely.
If you are coming by your own transport we have the great advantage of having a parking garage just across the street.
