The Pousada do Baluarte is a snug little house built in the 60's in the peaceful neighbourhood of Santo Antônio Além do Carmo in the historical centre of Salvador.With just a few simply decorated yet charming rooms, the Baluarte offers personal service in a very family environment.

We were one of the first Pousadas to open over 10 years ago,getting into the Lonely planet over Five years ago but that did not go to our heads we still believe in the essence of the word POUSADA 'a commercial establishment similar to a hotel but in general modest in size and run in a familiar manner'.

We have not changed our outlook much it is still pretty much the same ,the neighbourhood attracted some larger 'pousadas'but we think they have lost the quaint feel that a family home brings to your stay.

We offer three double en-suite rooms and two with a large shared bathroom.All rooms are beautifully decorated and all have air con ,frigo bar and celings fans.

The family room has a well stocked library and you will usually hear some smoothing local tunes.

You can relax in this very familiar enviroment or on the terrace where Breakfast is served from 0800 until 1200 .

The peaceful and airy terrace is also a great little spot to have a refreshing Caipirinha.


If you have to cancel your booking, you must do it at least 48hrs before arrival.

If you book between December 15th and March 15th you will be charged 50% in advance in order to secure your booking (non refundable).
You also may be contacted by the property requesting the CVV code of the credit card used for this booking or asked for a deposit.

This also applies if your booking is during a national holiday, New Year´s eve or Carnival.
