Green Tortoise Backpackers in San Francisco, United States

This hostel has a great value, good rooms, good beds and good free dinners. However I have to admit I ended up changing hostel to the USA Hostel in San Francisco and I liked that one way better. Green Tortoise wasn't the social party hostel I wanted as a single traveler who wants to meet different people. But on the upside it does have a great value and a good hostel. This hostel was quite well organized. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They arrange lots of activities and have great meals. I found the hostel to be quite clean. It is close enough to walk to the piers. The hostel is surrounded by several sex shops but I did not find this to be a problem. There is a lot of traffic noise for the rooms that face the street, though. I would have preferred a non-smoking hostel. I was also surprised at how accepting they were of smoking pot.

Always nice to hear guests enjoying their stay at Green Tortoise.These two blocks of Broadway are pretty harmless good fun aimed at tourists in town for the night. This area is also listed as National Historic Neighborhood and has great views of the Transamerica pyramid and Downtown San Francisco.
