And more.... At check in, international/out-of-state guests must present a valid passport or out-of-state American driver's license. In state residents must present a valid college identification or valid passport along with a valid state ID (ie: drivers license). Guests may also be asked to present proof of onward travel. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian. Guests under 16 permitted only in private rooms unless an entire dorm is rented. Parents with young children must contact the hostel prior to booking. |

This property has specific Terms & Conditions.Check-in: 11am for dorms, 2pm for privates. Check-out: 10am. A refundable $10 security deposit per person is collected at check-in. Changes/cancellations may be made up to 6pm, California time, the day before arrival. Late cancellations/no-shows are charged the first night's accommodation. We try to ensure people traveling together are in the same room. However, due to availability and/or booking patterns, there is a slight chance parties booking dorm beds will be placed in separate rooms.

From Greyhound:
The Greyhound station is at Folsom Street and Main Street. Walk north on Main Street until you get to Market Street. Turn left onto Market Street. Take a slight right onto Post Street. Stay on Post Street for approximately 6 blocks. USA Hostels is on the left hand side, between Jones Street and Leavenworth Street. Look for the red canopy. The hostel's address is 711 Post Street.
From Amtrak:
From Amtrak's Shopping Center Station (SFS), cross to the other side of Market Street and walk up Powell St, following the Cable Cars. Turn left onto Post St. and walk three blocks to Jones St. Hostel will be on left-hand side of street.
From Airports:
From either Oakland Airport or San Francisco International Airport, take the BART train to the Powell Street station. The BART station is located in the international terminal at San Francisco International Airport. From Oakland Airport you will need to take the AirBART bus to the Colesium BART station. Take BART train to Powell Street Station. Exit Powell station at Cable Car turnaround, follow directions above from Amtrak.
Driving:
From highway 5 North: Take highway 580 W to highway 80 W. Take 80 W over Bay Bridge to 5th St. exit. Stay left on exit ramp, stay in lanes for Harrison St. (Slight left from exit ramp.) Go two blocks on Harrison, turn right onto 7th St. Follow 7th across Market Street. Street will curve to left and will become Leavenworth St. (Follow signs.) Take Leavenworth to Post St., turn right onto Post, hostel will be on right-hand side of street.
Parking:
Parking can usually be found on the street, or there is a parking garage located just 2 blocks away from the hostel that charges $17 per night. The garage is called Best Parking and is located at 525 Jones St, between Geary St and O'Farrell St. When you arrive, please ask for a discount coupon to get the USA Hostels guest rate. Street parking is free between 6pm and 7am and all day on Sundays.
