La Pierre Plantee bed and breakfast / chambre d'hotes accommodation is where you can have a relaxed start to your vacation or for a short break to visit some of the sights and attractions in this relatively unexplored part of France. Located in the beautiful Dordogne Valley there is an abundance of new attractions and breathtaking countryside to capture everyone's interest. Souillac 8km and Martel 7km are our closest towns, and we are 10mins by car from the A20 autoroute. Ideal halfway location when travelling across France.
A quiet modern single storey accommodation set in oak woods in the hamlet of Bazalgue, in the district of Baladou. The house stands on the crossroads of a walking track, marked by a standing stone. There are many local walks direct from the house. No passing traffic as we are at the end of a track.
Geraldine and Steve welcome you to their house were there is accommodation for up to 6/7 persons. All the rooms have views onto the woods, fitted wardrobes, linen dressing gown and towels, and are central heated in winter. There is 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom and in the summer season 1 bedroom with two adult bunk beds (for 2 or 1 persons) single rate available, contact us for details. Extra bed available in double OR bunk room (child 7 to 13yrs old) contact us for details. There is 1 shower room/wc & additional wc for the guests, use of the dining area. There is a large garden and a substantial terrace area for relaxing or picnics, use of outside fridge available. Breakfast is served on the patio in fine weather or in the inside dining area. Wi-fi available. Contact in advance about evening meals.
We have the advantage of being on the borders of the Correze and Dordogne departments, which means the many attractions of all 3 areas are easily accessible.
In the Lot there is the famous 900 year-old pilgrim town of Rocamadour, plus the amazing caves of Lacave and Padirac.
In the Dordogne you have the Chateau of Castelnaud, with all its intact battlements, or the troglodyte dwellings at the Grottes du Roc de Cazelle.
In the Correze you can visit the ancient viscounty capital of Turenne, and call in at the red village of Collanges-la-Rouge.
There are also many colourful markets for local products, at Martel, Sarlet, Souillac and Brive
For activities it is a great area for walking & cycling. Bike rental can be arranged. We can advise on many of local tracks around the area. All the routes are covered by the IGN maps 2136ET and 2036ET.
The Dordogne River is also a wonderful place for canoeing, and fishing permits can be obtained easily. Other activities that can be done are paragliding, horse trekking and more.
We are also right on the doorstep of Europes largest and best Cave Diving area. Many of the cave dives are very local and there is an air filling station in the Lot region.

Main town Souillac is 8km.
Main town Martel is 7km approx
The nearest shops, bars and restaurants are located in the main towns. Personal transport is advised to get around the area.

Airports & Autoroutes
The local airports are Brive Valley de Dordogne 15mins, Bergerac to the west and Limoges to the north, Rodez and Toulouse to the south.
Autoroute A20(E9) from Paris or Toulouse exit at Junction 55 to Souillac.
Trains & Buses
There are daily trains from Paris and Toulouse to Souillac. There are also train routes to St.Denis-Pres-Martel.
There is a limited train bus service from Souillac to St. Denis-Pres-Martel. This will get you to the turning by Le Pigeon on the D803, follow rest of directions to the house (contact for more details).
From Souillac A20 (E9) exit: Take the D803(D703) under the viaduct and up the hill to Martel for approx 4.5km (2.7miles). Opposite the 2nd turning to Le Pigeon Haut take a left turn sign posted La Pierre Plant�e and Le Saulou. On corner is large concrete blocks.
From Martel: Take the D803(D703) to Souillac for approx 7km (4.2miles). Opposite the turning to Le Pigeon Haut take a right turn sign posted La Pierre Plant�e and Le Saulou.. On corner is large concrete blocks.
1. From the main road (D803) the house is approx 2.5km (1.5miles). Proceed from the turning and continue past Le Saulou garden nursery.
2. Go straight on at the Foie Gras sign on the left side of the road, and continue for a short distance.
3. You reach a crossroads sign posted Bazalgues, carry straight across and round a small bend to the 1st turning on your left.
4. Turn left sign posted La Pierre Plant�e and keep left at the next fork in the road.
5. Continue for a short distance until the road ends and a track begins.
6. Keep left down the track sign posted La Pierre Plant�e, onto the house at the end.
Souillac is 8km.
Martel is 7km approx

We are in the Lot department of the Dordogne Valley in the Mid-Pyrenees region and border with the departments of Correze and Dordogne.
