Very central. Only one shower for the whole hostel whilst redecorating, so had to wait ages in the morning. No warning of this and no discount offered. Reasonable security. Not the cleanest hostel, but not too bad. Had a reasonale communal area, but no one seemed to use it...! Ok for a couple of nights if travelling with friends on a budget. I stayed here with my daughter, who is a (dutch) student in Russian language. She was my guide for I don't speak any Russian! We stayed for 8 days. We booked a twin bedroom with private bathroom. Very, very, luxurious at a very fair price. Also the dorms for backpackers were nice and clean. Great location at walking distance of all the great sites (Hermitage, Russian Museum, Izaak Cathedral etc. etc.) Metro station Sennaja nearby. Very friendly staff, all English-speaking.
