Formerly the 'Spadina Hotel', host to guests such as Leonard Cohen, Jack Nicholson and The Rolling Stones, Global Village Backpackers now offers hostel accommodation to travelers in downtown Toronto. Located in the centre of the city's entertainment district, we are just minutes away from some of the best theatres, clubs, restaurants and shops, as well as attractions like the Air Canada Centre and the CN Tower. We have accommodation in a range of private rooms and dormitories plus facilities including common rooms, a guest kitchen, laundry, lockers, free wireless internet access and an outdoor patio. In addition, our backpacker's bar hosts live music and DJs, and we organise daily tours to Niagara Falls. A pancake breakfast is included in the rates and linen and towels are provided. We operate a 24-hour friendly reception and access is via electronic key card. We offer discounts for valid card-carrying students and members of VIP Backpackers, SWAP/BUNAC and YHA/Hostelling International. Packages are available. We're at the corner of King & Spadina
From the Airport - take the Airport Express bus ($18.50) one way) to the Holiday Inn on King Street - it's the third stop from the airport (ask the driver). The hostel is one block west on King Street at the corner of Spadina Avenue.
From the Bus Terminal - go out the main entrance and walk one-half block south (right) to Dundas Street. Take the westbound streetcar (tram) ($2.75) and transfer to the southbound streetcar at Spadina Avenue-get off at King Street.
From Union Station (train) - take the streetcar ($2.75) marked 'Spadina'. Get off at the corner of Spadina Avenue and King Street.
