Home to world famous Bells Beach and the birth place of iconic surf brands, Torquay is the surfing capital of Australia. Located 95km South West of Melbourne, it is the official start of the Great Ocean Road.
Whether you need a relaxing escape by the ocean or are out to learn the finer points of Surfing, Bells Beach Backpackers can accommodate you while investing time in further travels on the Great Ocean Road.

Sun, sand and a great place to stay! Live the Aussie dream in our unique beach house! Situated in the town of Torquay, Home @ Bells Beach is within easy walking distance of all the town's attractions.

Our dorm rooms have 4,6,8 or 12 beds and there is one double room. Every room has brand new beds, mattresses, linen, lockers and a completely refurbished kitchen and tv room. There's a large garden perfect for kicking back or cooking up a feast on the bbq!
Hire a surfboard and walk 10 minutes to Torquay surf beach or if you'd prefer to just look like a pro surfer, walk 2 minutes to the Surf shop Plaza where you'll find all the major surf brands. Everyone knows that backpackers love a bargain, and there's plenty to be found just around the corner at the Ripcurl and Quiksilver factory outlets!
Bells Beach is in a national park area about 10 minutes drive from Torquay. There are beautiful walking tracks from Torquay to Bells Beach. Well known for amazing surf and host to the Ripcurl Pro surfing competition. Although you might want to tell your friends you've surfed Bells, this is only adviseable if you are an experienced surfer!

From Melbourne:
Direct Transfer: Pick up is available most days from Melbourne hostels. Phone or e-mail us for more info.
By car: Drive over the Westgate bridge towards Geelong. After approx 45 min follow signs for Great Ocean Road. Follow signs for Great Ocean Road via Torquay. As you enter Torquay there are lots of surf shops on your right. The hostel is about 100m past these shops on the right (next to the caravan park)
By public transport: Take the V-Line train from Southern Cross Station to Geelong. Take McHarrys bus from Geelong station to Torquay. Jump off just after surf shops and we are about 50m down the main road on the opposite side!

From Great Ocean Road:
When entering Torquay there\'s a big roundabout. Turn left towards Melbourne. The hostel is about 400m up this road on the left.
