Our atmposhere is relaxed, and though there is loads to see and do, our hostel is also great spot to chill out for a few days and recharge your travelling batteries. You can enjoy the warmth of a log fire in winter or relax in our BBQ area in summer. Discover the amazing and FREE Abbey Caves just a short drive from our property - see thousands of glow worms, stalactites & stalagmites, underground waterfalls, and spectacular rock formations in three unique undeveloped caves. FREE PICKUP!!!! Our staff have the hook-ups for the best local surf companies. Our coastline has some fantastic beaches, on any given day there is surf for every ability. Suits and boards are also available to rent locally. FREE PICKUP and drop off for snorkellers and scuba divers at the Poor Knights Islands Tutukaka! You don't have to be a diver to discover this amazing and unique envrionment, snorkelling there is fantastic and lots of fun. Trips depart Tutukaka daily. Our booking service can help you arrange your adventure. All dive trips pick up and drop off outside our front door. We genuinely want to help you make the experience you have in NZ amazing. YHA New Zealand is a non-profit membership organization. Non-members pay an additional NZ$3 per person per night . Our hostel has a no smoking policy. |

Driving:
On entering Whangarei follow the road signs to Whangarei Heads/Airport, you will drive through town and then across a bridge, Punga Grove is then the 4th road on the left.
Bus/Shuttle:
1)From �The Hub� i-Site (Naked bus): with your back to the building, turn right, walk through the carpark, cross the bridge, Punga Grove is then the 4th road on the left; Though you can take the short cut up the walking track from the corner of Dundas Road (3rd road on the left). Walking time 10mins
2)From Rose Street bus station (Intercity bus) the fare is $7 per taxi. To walk; cross the road in front of you and walk down Walton Street, at the end of the street turn left, cross the bridge, Punga Grove is then the 4th road on the left; Though you can take the short cut up the walking track on the corner of Dundas Road (3rd road on the left). Walking time 15-20mins
3)From the Otaika road i-Site drop off point (Stray and Magic buses): we can arrange a taxi service to pick you up for a flat fee of $12 per taxi, just email us your arrival date and time.
