The chill out area was COLD and unfriendly. During my time there i didn't see more than one person at a time there. Usually the staff used it as their chill out place. The bed was dirty (yellow spots on the sheets) and the bathroom smelled weird. You had to ask to get hot water in the shower (undress - dress again - go to desk - undress). The internet was a joke. They are awesome people there. I had spent one night in a business hotel before coming to 9Dragons and the so called hotel (Guo Men Business Hotel) reception people hardly understand any English. People at 9Dragons are much better for that and they are very friendly and flexible people. The only good thing about this hostel was the location. Only a short walk to the metro station was great! The rest of the experience was poor or average the rooms were dirty, not well kept and we came back to our room one day after it had been cleaned to find the door wide open. The staff did not speak English really at all. The tour to the Great Wall was only great because of the location the guide didn't speak the whole trip! And when asked questions he didn't known. Amazing Hostel, amazing location, very friendly staff and nice enviroment a prompt restaurant inside, and the crew even help me booking my flight getting my airport taxi, this hostel is so nice and very very near the subway. they have computers and Internet that works very good, the receptionists wear beautiful uniforms... so I would live in this hostel for a while,, I regreat I couldn't stay longer, but I definitely recommend this hostel for all travellers as first choice in Beijing. 9 Dragons was hard for me to find (hint: come in from the east rather than the west), but once I got there, it was a welcome refuge from smoggy Beijing! My room (double with private bathroom) was large, bright, and clean. The staff were friendly (especially Alice!), but they only speak enough English to help with basic needs. The restaurant area is cozy, with a decent DVD selection. The hostel is within walking distance from MANY fantastic sights, and hosts a unique Great Wall tour as well. Kerry, from USA ~ 23rd Nov 2011

Good hostel in good central location right next to a metro stop. Previous comments had led us to believe the hostel had a lively bar but we were there for a week and tended to be the only people in there which was a shame, perhaps due to the expensive food & drink. 10 RMB for a beer & 30+RMB for any hot dish which was mainly western, very limited Chinese offer. The location in a nice hutong, next to an underground station and with lots of shopping possibilities and restaurants nearby is really excellent. Bath in the double room was ok, typical Chinese with toilet and shower in one. No safe in the room, but we stored our luggage after checkout without any problems.
