very good hostel. Located 5 blocks from the main plaza and easy accessable from any points. We only had difficulties with hot water but otherwise great place. There is a small backyard in the middle of the hostel, which is awesome.

Staff was SO helpful. Erica bought our bus tickets at the terminal for us when she went there to take care of business. Courtyard is great! Would reccomend it and would stay again! Thanks Casa de Avila...

I asked if there were particular times when the water was hot and the person at the desk ran off and 20 minutes later, agua caliente! So, you might have to ask for hot water.

Casa de Avila has problems with its water heater. It was not possible to get constant warm water for showers. They said they will be working on fixing this, however I've seen previous reviews that indicate similar problems in the past.

Casa De Avila is an excellent place to start one's stay in Arequipa. However, I found it to be one of the most expensive hostals in the city. If you are there to take the Spanish lessons offered daily on the grassy courtyard, it may be worth the extra money. However, these, too are somewhat overpriced, given the huge choice of nice hostels to stay in in the area. Still, the rooms were larger than most, and Casa de Avila is certainly worth the price, at lest for a short-term stay while one ex

Casa de Avila is an excellent place to stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and it is a short safe walk from the city centre. The rooms are amazing value and better than we've experienced in Peru so far.
