Very interesting hostel. It has a really home-y feel to it, as soon as you get there. It is smaller and more friendly. The staff are great. It is very clean and has free high speed internet (wireless and computers you can use downstairs.) Would much prefer to stay here than a HI, because, although it maybe isnt in the best place (the security is fine though, you feel safe.) it has much more character and is more interesting.

No hot water, no locks on room doors, whoever may come to your room while you\\\'re absent!
Dear Alexander, I am sure you noticed our note in the bulletin board about city water pipes reconstruction that would make hot water not steaming hot for a few days. We offered to you safety locker and its up to you to decide that you don't need it. Sorry you missed all the fun. - Roma

The location is a little bit far away, its exterior is very old, but inside it is pretty clean, people are quite friendly. Overall this place is not too bad, my only concern will be its security.
Hey Adrian, Thanks for the comment. The location is in the center of downtown DC, please use google maps to locate 1333 11th st nw and you will see. Of course, depending on where you go, even though the metro is a few blocks away, getting around the entire DC from one place to another is impossible in 10 minutes or less. We are in the "historic" part of DC, and the exterior has class (yes it is old). As far security, we have cameras, on site staff that check up on things, access only with security code and free lockers! Thanks for your review, and we're glad you enjoyed your stay with us!

I've stayed at 3 DC hostels, and this one was the worst. One of the two staff members was constantly rude, did not do his job, and even took one of my bags out of the storage closet and left it in a public area. Not safe! Very loud air conditioning in the rooms, plus extremely loud and squeaky doors made it difficult to sleep. The area is also a bit dodgy, and I'd think twice if you are a woman on your own. I recommend HI DC or DC Hilltop Hostel over this one any day. Very disappointed. Douglas, from USA ~ 26th Aug 2009
