IchiEnSou Guesthouse in Kyoto, Japan

This is the best hostel I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. The owner and staff work very hard to keep the place clean and to make guests feel welcome. I stayed there for 5 nights and the owner often took guests out to different restaurants and for walks around the city. He made an effort to get to know everyone and to create an environment which encouraged guests to socialize with one another. This is the first hostel I've actually ever stayed at. And what a pleasant experience it was. Yashi is very helpful and friendly, who does what he can to make the guests feel comfortable and at home. And the hostel itself has a very traditionally Japanese atmosphere to it. If you decide to stay in Kyoto, definitely consider staying here for a few days. Eric, from USA ~ 28th Oct 2009

The staff, Yashi, has been studying in Australia and can speak fairly good English and even some Chinese in additional to his native Japanese. He has been very helpful during my stay there. The rooms are very clean and characteristic. Will stay again! Huan-Kai, from Taiwan ~ 9th Oct 2009
