I enjoyed my stay in India house. It's not the cleanest Hostel but so far it's the one with the most party. It has its own a bit hippy-like Character (there are ex. Only two private showers and the rest are shared ones, male and female) The Hostel adapts very well to the N'awlins lifestyle. Make sure you like drinking, cause that's what they do. The athmosphere un the backyard is great and you hear people jammin' together. Special experience! Vera, from Switzerland ~ 26th Jan 2012

Good Atmosphere, plenty of space, and conveniently next to the canal streetcar. Peter, from USA ~ 23rd Jan 2012

Stacey is great - both on the desk and cooking (cheap) breakfast. Could be a few more bathrooms and the place could do with a coat of paint but charming in a faded hippie-house kind of way...One minute walk to trolley car and a great venue (Chickie Wah Wah) 2 blocks away. If you don't want to be kept awake by young noisy drunks outside until 4am don't sleep in a back dorm, but generally the vibe is pleasant and laid-back and it's easy to meet fellow-travellers. I loved this hostel! It was the best I've ever stayed in. If we would have stayed in a hotel, we would have missed out on meeting wonderful people from all around the world. Not recommended for anyone stodgy or uptight. Laura, from USA ~ 21st Jan 2012

Spent a couple of days before New Years '12 at India House. I didn't have a big idea of things to do or people to hang around with. Made friends with a bunch of people by just hanging around the house. Very nice ambiance to the place, just to hang around. Definitely recommend this for anyone coming to Nola. Very cool place, safe, clean, fun. Walking distance to city center is a good 30/45 minutes but the street car go staight there for 1,25D. Probably the best hostel in NOLA. Enjoyed jazz in frenchmen ST. ROMAIN, from France ~ 31st Dec 2011

Right on the Canal Street streetcar line.Ten minutes to downtown. The usual dirrerent backyards and siderooms, nice food cooked onsite if you wish. There is bus service available to airport with a 1/2 mile walk and the streetcar goes to the Amtrak and bus staion. James, from USA ~ 21st Dec 2011

good location - only about 50m from the canal line trolley (runs til approx 2-3am) cool old house, but carries the noise. had some very loud people staying & voices/shouting/laughing travelled up to the dorms til 4 or 5am some nights. staff didn\'t do much about it. some staff good, but others more interested in facebook/phone/internet/music/hanging with the cool kids, than helping. one gave me wrong info about availability & i nearly had to leave earlier than planned. amelia, from New Zealand ~ 15th Dec 2011

I had never stayed in a hostel and wasn't sure what to expect, but I can't wait to do it again. Met lots of interesting and exiting people from all over the world. Always felt safe. Lots of space in common areas and outside to hang out, so at bedtime, dorms were quiet. Very clean considering the number of travelers. Just the typical social environment, but cleaning lady came in every morning. Lots of showers, too, and never ran out of hot water. Can't wait to go back! Kristin, from USA ~ 14th Dec 2011

Great hostel when you are one of those who are relaxed and laid back and want to get to know people from all over the world easily! It really has a backpacker mentality and makes it very easy to get in touch with others in one of the plenty common areas or the backyard with pool and stage :)Nontheless it's not the cleanest hostel I've been so far and doesn't have good and clean equipment in the kitchen. Depending on where your room is, it can be really loud at nights, so take earplugs! Sarah, from Germany ~ 1st Dec 2011
