The service at Mexico City Hostel was fantastic. Its convenient location brings you in walking distance from the Zócalo and all nearby historical monuments, plus el Palacio de Bellas Artes and the Alameda. Great atmosphere, too, and kept very well clean. Geoffrey, from USA ~ 7th Nov 2009

Was there only a very short time over night. Did not have time for "fun". There were empty beer bottles everywhere. It actually felt more like a hotel than a hostel though it has the charm that I only find in hostels. Very helpful staff. Absolutley no thoughts about security at all as it felt very safe. The location is "WOW!" GARY, from USA ~ 31st Oct 2009

The street noises and non curtained windows kept us away quite some time. Also the breakfast was gone by 8.30 am. The staff was very friendly and the location is just unbeatable. Isabel, from Germany ~ 6th Nov 2009

Large colonial building very nicely done up. The young ladies working the reception, especially Paulina, are as friendly and helpful as they are beautiful. Donald, from USA ~ 20th Oct 2009

a youthful place with lots of travellers hanging out, breakfast is adequate, and the internal rooms quite noisey - overall though a great place Demelza, from England ~ 21st Aug 2009

An excellent, relatively quiet hostel (street noise aside, but that's to be expected in this area) that provides good, centrally-located accommodation at a reasonable rate. Stayed with a colleague in a large, twin private room and we were both very comfortable. The hostel decor is very welcoming, as are the clean facilities. Breakfast was nothing special, but perfectly fine for the price. The only minor issue (and this will bother some more than others) is the smoking in the front doorway. I had a ball at this hostel, it was extremely easy to make friends, the excursions they organize are great (Lucha Libre!), the bed was comfy enough and the showers were excellent. Highly recomended! Neil, from Canada ~ 17th Jul 2009

This hostel is VERY close to the Zocalo. It is a nice, multi-level facility. I met a lot of fun people here. The only complaint I have is that sometimes people gather on the bottom floor late in the night to talk/smoke cigarettes. If you're in the mixed gender room, a lot of the smoke and noise enters. This may not be a problem in the other rooms... but some of those have, from what I understand, a mosquito problem. Otherwise a fine hostel, with nice breakfast, and a good chance to meet others. Quiet! I stayed at the Catedral Hostal before and it was party central. This hostal had the benefit of a fountain in the hostel, which made the noise of outside drown all that much more. It was peaceful and chill, exactly what you want for a good night's sleep. Tess, from Canada ~ 6th Jul 2009

I struck gold when I choose this hostel. It is located a very central location, lots of people walking day and night. As with any big city, be cautious and use common sense. Lots of bars (both str8 and gays) nearby and seriously Zocalo is just amazing! Melvin, from USA ~ 27th Apr 2009
