The rear of the hostel was not secured, and the Emergency Only door was opened often by guest. The bed/dorm area of one long term guest (2 weeks) was a pigsty-bottles, cigs, clothes, and stank. Gary, from USA ~ 18th Nov 2009

The bathrooms and showers seemed clean enough, but refuse and garbage were not picked up, the floors hadn't been vacummed in at least 3 days, perhaps more. The bed covers seemed kind of gross. There were no real common areas for people to meet. I was unable to connect to the wifi at all. Since I'd been at both India House and Bourbon House, it was a very disappointing experience in comparison. Our air conditioner was broken...in July...and there was no attempt to apologize for the problem or intent fix it at any point. The girls checking out in front of us appeared to have had a pretty serious issue with bedbugs. They did not receive a refund. Reception hours can become quite inconvenient. this was my 4th stay at marquette house and will be my last. i found somewhere else to stay as soon as i could and moved out. it was filthy deborah, from England ~ 6th May 2009

This place would have a lot of potential if the rooms were a tiny bit nicer. We reserved a private room for two of us and wound up getting a private room with 7 beds. A little strange. Ariana, from USA ~ 7th May 2009

It was a great value, friendly staff. Location was not walking distance to the french quarter, but st. charles streetcar was pretty convenient (never waited long, the ride was 10-15 minutes). Apparently, location is at the edge of a bad neighborhood, but people said as long as you don't venture into the bad part you don't have problems. There were cockroaches, but in fairness to the hostel, there seemed to be cockroaches all over new orleans. Overall, good experience. Paul, from USA ~ 20th Apr 2009

The best location for Mardi Gras just one block from St. Charles Ave...Hate the idea the kitchen closed at 10pm & no internet signal in my room..The Staff was very helpful esp (MIKE) he's da best. The Room was very clean..I def plan to revist Gregory, from USA ~ 6th Mar 2009
