Proconsolo Rooms in Florence, Italy

The location of the hostel was v good, but we first had to traipse across the river to their office to pay etc which was exhausting with all our bags after a long train ride! Vladi, the guy in the office, was really nice and helpful, but his assistant who lives in the hostel was less so. She was unfriendly and on occasion a little rude. The room itself was too small for the six bed they'd squeezed in but our fantastic terrace MORE than made up for this - we sat out there every night! Rebecca, from England ~ 12th Jul 2009

So far during my travels I have stayed in over 30 hostels and backpackers, Proconsolo Rooms in Florence is by far the worse place ever! The showers are appalling, broken, dirty and with blocked drains. The rooms are dirty, the manager, Vlad, packs as many beds into each room as he can. The lights in the bedroom did not work and the there was a big hole in the kitchen floor. There are no lockable cupboards and you are told not to lock the b,room door.
