If you are expecting a traditional Japanese room make sure you request one. This was my first trip to Tokyo and I needed help finding out how to get to specific places but the staff seemed bothered by my asking for help. I would have liked them to be more friendly. Out of the way to get to Tokyo--have to change trains twice. Diana, from USA ~ 26th Sep 2009

We had a very pleasant stay. The location is not very central for Tokyo, but really good for seeing both Tokyo and Yokohama. Angela, from England ~ 15th Sep 2009

Great place. A little off the beaten path, but well worth the extra train ride to get there! Christopher, from USA ~ 21st Sep 2009

Overall, this is a beautiful place with a friendly staff. The location is out of the way, but it is very worth it to stay here. Jerrica, from USA ~ 2nd Sep 2009

The pictures don't lie:this ryokan is quite pretty. They have free massage chairs, which really helped relieve my sore muscles after I ran myself off my feet sightseeing! One thing: don't assume that you'll get a Japanese room. I assumed that I'd booked a Japanese room, but I got a Western room. Be careful when booking, and don't assume! You can get into Tokyo via the useful Tokyu lines, but it takes a little while. Staying here is a good escape from the madness of urban Tokyo.Friendly Daniel, from Canada ~ 13th Aug 2009

There is a lot of mosquitos, and a bad smell in some rooms... Camille, from France ~ 30th Jul 2009

Quite a nice place, but not really as traditional as I had thought. The absolut highlight was the massage chair in the common room. Stefan, from Germany ~ 6th Aug 2009

This Ryokan is one of the least expensive ones and it's worth it! Gives you peace of mind/serenity here. The pictures are not deceiving! They have open air public bath..like a mini hot spring sort of thing. It is far/out of the way, but we found an awesome place to eat sushi/sashimi for only 450-550 yen! The room is spacious and it's nice to experience a traditional ryokan. You get your own tea/kettle in your room and more space than a regular hostel. It's also nice and quiet here. The Ryokan is a good experience of Japanese style living. Traditional japanese rooms coupled with some modern facilities makes the place a good one to spend time in. They offer free internet, massage chairs, CD and tea. They also have a nice common outdoor hot bath. Location is probably the only bad point i can comment. Vincent, from Malaysia ~ 2nd Dec 2008
