The young lady, who checked me in and out, was SO nice and polite! She was awesome! :) The location is great. Just a few blocks away from Metro stations. Good location but you should be careful in the night time.. And they dont have a locker room..
We do have lockers that guests can rent for $5 for their entire stay. They are small (but larger enough to hold most laptops, purses and other small valuables). The lockers are in the basement and guests can always access them. We also allow guests to keep small items in the office, which is either locked or has a staff person in it. The office is open from 7am to 9pm. Just ask about rending a locker or leaving something with us in the office. Being just 5 blocks from the center of US government, we are in a very safe neighborhood, but it is good to be reminded that you should always be careful in a large city.

Great Place to Stay to chill and get away from all the forced misguided wanna be fun BS going on at other hostels in DC. As an America who has traveled all over the world staying in hostels this is one of the best. $40 for this hostel is not worth it at all.the shower is kidda wired, u will c what i m talkin about if u end up going there.only thing which is good is location but other than that i dotn recommend stayin at this place. bad points shower,not clean at all, mosquitoes good point one n only location. rushabh, from USA ~ 23rd May 2011

The staff seems really nice in general but I came in late to check-in. The woman working overnight was incredibly rude and upset that I came late. Granted I did wake her up. But, when trying to explain why I was late, she said angrily "Just go to bed!! You woke me up!" I have never experienced anything like that before. It was pretty surprising and pretty funny.
We do ask our guests to check in between noon and 9pm. We will stay up for late check-ins for a $10 late fee, but ask them very clearly to come before midnight, as it disturbs our guests and our staff is not willing to stay up that late. I should have been more patient checking this guest in, but he arrived at 1:30 am even though he had been asked to arrive before midnight. I had been asleep for an hour and a half and was not my best self.

The staff was very unfriendly throughout my stay during a time when there were very few guests. The checkout process was unnecessarily awkward when the three staff members in the office refused to acknowledge me suitcase in hand and obviously needing assistance. How hard is it to say "good morning" and "may I help you?" I won't stay again.
Oh no! I remember you, Wendy. I was not on duty that day but dashed into the office to grab my personal mail (staff person #1 you must have seen). The person to your right (staff #2) was a volunteer and could not have assisted you. And the young lady at the main desk (staff #3) had no idea you were standing there because you never said anything. So sorry for the confusion. We are actually in the process of rearranging the office so that our backs are not facing the door and we can see everyone who walks in!

The place is fine and the staff very good but the people who come are too loud and disorderly. At best, this is for young people only. Clothing is strewn all over the place.The dormitory becomes filled with the odor of dirty socks. Unable to sleep which is why one goes to a dormitory.
I'm sorry that on the nights you were here our other guests did not respect the quiet hours. Usually, people find the other guests considerate, quiet and tidy. We do explain to guests when they check in about quiet hours and if the staff hears people being noisy after 10pm they will tell them to be quiet.
