We had a wet patch on our ceiling, and, after the gravity took its toll, it gradually ended on my bed... Totally faceless, about 10 mins walk from the centre.

Nice hotel. At first, they didn't know about my deposit from Hostelworld, but at the end everything was ok. Great staff!

they hardly spoke any english, and asked for 600 RMB as deposit because they didn't know about the hostel world reservation system. they are NOT toyoko-in (japanese hotel-chain) although they are trying to be. don't go there if you have a better option.

As for the hotel I would recommend it to anyone on a budget planning to go see Zhongyang DaJie and St. Sopihia Church, both are within walking distance. It is Clean, Warm and Inexpensive. However the staff speaks NO English, so if you do not speak some Chinese it could be an inconvienence if you have problems with the bill. In Addition I give this WARNING for travelers to Harbin: it is a difficult place for travelers, when you arrive by air your first warning comes when you have to CHAIN and LOCK your luggage to the bus so it will not be stolen. If you take a taxi, they want to overcharge you by 100 plus yuan, a trip from the airport should be no more than 120 yuan, negotiate before you leave, the bus is 20 yuan. Nearly all the taxi drivers tried to rip me off, watch them carefully and be prepared to argue about price. An average ride should not cost more than 10 to 15 yuan, watch the meter so they don't "tap it up" to double or triple. Also the thieves are everywhere, my camera was stolen while on the bus back to the airport with over 20 Chinese people watching. No one said anything or would say who stole it, they just accept it as a part of life in Harbin. So be WARNED, Harbin is Not a Safe Place.
