Great Hostel / Hotel, very cheap but very tough to find. For those looking, its around the corner from the flash Kunming Hotel in the centre of town. Go to reception there and ask for directions. Its a 5min walk.

I like this hotel, though the entrance is very small, and don't expect good view from your room. The stuff members are very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The room is not the luxurious type, but big, clean and comfortable. We ended up canceling a big hotel and staying there for one more night. Not sure about their English, 'cause I spoke Chinese with them. :-)
