Casa Camilla really spoiled our first impression of Boracay. We stayed there the first night because we already paid for it, but then we moved to a better place, closer to everything and cheaper!
It looks like it's in the process of renovation, but no work is being done, so i think it's like that all the time. It is full of bricks and other unattractive sites, there is a gate that is closed at night for security purposes but no lock on it and noone around to watch out, there is also a lock on the door, but boracay is a safe place in the philippines anyway.
As for location, it is in the middle of nowhere, at the end of the beach, far from shops and restaurants or anything else, half an hour walk from the action and party life, along the walk home there are some dark places which seem scary.
The staff are nice and friendly, but hardly there so it is hard to find someone to pay or ask for something. They didn't even know we were arriving. They are also not very accomodating as we were unhappy with our place because IT DOESN'T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE THE PICTURES and they were unwilling to move us to the room which did look slightly like the picture. Their excuse was that the owner wasn't there so they couldn't do anything to accomodate our requests. Even though we paid more than many other locations asked for, they wanted to charge us 2000PHP for the room that was similar looking to the picture although still not that great. We paid 1200PHP for our ugly room that was missing a door knob on the bathroom door and we found a hotel for 1120PHP with much better conditions and close to everything.
It is fairly clean but hard to have fun and enjoy yourself when you are so greatly dissappointed.
If you are going during the low season then don't book anything, just show up and look for a nice cheap place along the beach. Casa Camilla was a huge dissappointment and ruined our first day and first impression of boracay. Definately look for places on the beach cuz the ones far from it seem dangerous and scary, and try to aim for a place close to the center of the beach near boat station 2. It is worth paying a little more for a place other than casa camilla.
